Its not irrelevant where you put your FP in conquest, that location will have notably less corruption. With courthouse and police station... no corruption at all! Also distance corruption might not be huge but its notable.
You are right of course. But the benefits you describe must be bought with a decidedly prolonged building time. So if I have to hand-build the FP, I´ll rather do it in or near my core.

But in the Civilopedia, it says that fortified boats on coast get a +25% defense, and on Ocean a +50%.:)

You can't believe everything you read................Especially in the Civilopedia! ;)

The Editor, however, seems pretty reliable. :)

If your at war with a nation early on and unable to trade lux etc yet... How do you prevent being at the bottom of a dog pile? Gift bits of gold to other nations or something? Its especially gulling when two nations who were just recently fighting each other, turn around and join in a pact to destroy you, for no particular reason..

Well they probably have a reason. If you check F3, you will likely see that you are weak compared to them. If that is the case and you are playing at maybe emperor and surely higher levels, that is is an invitation to either a demand or an attack.

The less open land still available the more I would expect an attack. If it is into the middle ages, I would want to spend resources on troops, not gifts.

I would give into a demand, if I felt it dangerous not to do it. I also give in to a demand for a lux, IF I expect to attack them in a few turns, as it cost me little and buys me time, rep has to be shot already though.

Sometimes you can be the big dog and still get the scenaro you mentioned. This tends to be at least after the late middle ages. Now they are mad as you had sometings they want or need.

In this case you probably are not worried and have items to get others to come in on your side, if needed.

Going back to whether sea units get to use the bonus the consensus appears to be mixed with some replying that it doesn't and some that it does....
I'm 99% sure you get NO Defensive Bonus for fortifying ships. :)

If your at war with one nation, does that make it ever so much more likely to be dogpiled by everyone else? Should one avoid war with any nation unless one can MA in another nation? Oh another problem is that not everyone had contact with everyone else at the time. Couldn't get a MA even if I had had something to trade for it (which I didn't really)

As you see though, that often back fires as you lose tech trading options and become backwards. Thus making you a easy meal for the AI to eventually get around to. It was a rather small continent we four were crammed in on.

Didn't help that green had the immortal UU (4/2) and was bigger then everyone else. That UU should cost a bit more, closer to that of medieval infantry.

Isn't there an option to restart a game using the same world seed and everything? I could have sworn I've used it before, but I can't seem to find it in the menu!

In C3C (and I think PTW; not sure about vanilla 1.29) there should be an option "Play Last World" when you are setting up. But be warned it will regenerate the last game you generated, not the last game you loaded. If you want to re-create an old game, you need to use the World Seed, and your world settings have to be the same. If you change the Civs in the game in may re-distribute the starting locations.

I know that this is not exactly about civ3 but i don't want to create a new thread 'cause i want a really SHORT answer.
Who/what is the RADIOACTIVE MONKEY ? And how did this phenomenon start ?

If a enemy unit moves from one square to another square both next to the unit with ZOC, theres a chance that unit will strike at the unit doing a point of damage. The odds of this may depend on attack verses defence. The the greater the attack of the unit with ZOC compared to the other units defence, the more likely for it to happen.
