Would someone please provide me a link to a how-to guide for creating PBEM games with a custom map. Thanks
Yes, I am thinking of venturing into the world of map making, wish me luck.
how do you stop random starting locations on a premade world for civ III? It was easy to select an option on civ II. Civ II also allowed you to create your own civ.
What gives?

Is it possible to turn off "Wonder Victory" ingame? I was just defeated due to that silly victory condition.![]()
Its not on in standard games (unless you turned it on on game creation) so I guess you are playing a a scenario? In that case, its supposed to be a part of the challenge not to get defeated that way!![]()
iam playing vanilla and the game isn't not lower then the map the file is bic i read some were that i had to unzip it in the scenarios file before i can play it thats the part i dont get
... (unless you turned it on on game creation)
It happened to me once, I reloaded and didn't build the wonder. Was it an AI that built it in your game?
Okay, the file you downloaded needs to be unzipped. I believe windows XP and greater has the ability built in. (Right-click on the file and use Extract All) If that's not an option look around online for an appropriate tool for your system. Once the file is decompressed (unzipped), look for where Civ3 is installed on your computer and look for the scenarios directory, there should be a bunch of .bic files in there that have names that appear in the scenarios menu in game. Put your new file there, restart Civ3 (just in case) and it should be there in the list.
I hope it helps.
You could try reloading and declaring war, with a bit of luck they might Mobilise which will cancel the wonder build (IIRC).
I don't think it's a coincidence. If you have "culturally linked starting positions" turned on, you will almost automatically get the American group. I would turn that off if you don't want to see some combination of Maya/Inca/Aztec/America in all of your games.
I'm not so sure about that, D0M (in C3C at least)...
I was surprised to find that mobilization didn't allow me to complete current non-military builds. Before mobilizing I reviewed all towns and started one last non-military build in a number of them, expecting to finish these while mobilized. They were all automatically changed to build military units. Oh well.
I was also surprised (and a bit annoyed) to find that the production of a number of allowed things did not get the mobilization shield bonus. These things included barracks, harbors, workers, settlers, and even cannons and armies! So I ended up setting many of my cities to build Medieval Infantry as prebuilds, and reviewing them every turn for those which were ready to be flipped to complete as Cannons or Settlers. Where I wanted to build Harbors I built Frigates and similarly flipped them when ready.
I meant to test it last night, but forgot. I tried searching just now but I'm tied of being told I need to wait before I can search again.

Ha! got it. Here's a snippet from SirPleb (applies to C3C 1.15b) taken from this post in his legendary Going for Sid game.
