Hi. Welcome to CFC. I like pies too. :yumyum:

Saltpeter can appear on mountains and in deserts. Maybe on hills?

You can have a custom avatar when you've made 30 posts and been a member for 30 days.

btw, the image in your post doesn't show.

people who swear aren't allowed to have avatars... didn't you read that in the rules?
:joke:

And your image has too many "http"s or something.

Culture scores relative to AI CIVS.
I see the terms :
Impressed, Disdainful, Dismissive, Awed, etc.. when the foreign advisor compares cultures. Where do I find the quantitative aspect of these phrases. i.e. does disdainful mean that the culture is 200% better??

Spying is an easy way to get the AI declare on you for war happiness ;)
Did you read the post I linked to? I did not get war happiness as a result of espionage. It wasn't a thorough test-just a quick investigation so I could be wrong. Please post some proof if you know otherwise.

AFAIK, failed spy missions do not get you War Happiness. The only way to get WH is via "unprovoked" declarations. The reason I put that in quotes is that you can provoke a DoW by making unreasonable demands with their units in your territory, then ask them to leave. High probability they will declare, and you will get WH. If you declare, you get no WH.

ok guys you have been really helpful in the past thanks for that.

I have moved up to warlord level and played as the Persians .It was all very shaky at the start, I was blocked in by very aggressive and bossy AI's. At more then one occasion I thought of packing it in.

But I stuck it out and the situation has improved. I have after a lot of trying got into the Arabs (who I think it would be fair to call a runaway AI) gracious good books. Have dumped off a one city civ to give me a bit more room and by joining the Arabs war against the German's. I let him take the brunt of their war machine but picked up three cities including Berlin. This had left me with more space that I badly needed. I have also put in some infill cities.

The Arabs has had large wars with German and America leaving them fairly damaged and given me space to Buddy up to the Arabs and probably get ahead of the other two.

I now have 20 cities all doing ok and developing a decent science base, have switched to democracy and built lots of defensive miltary units. Traded for luxuries and population is throwing me a few wltk days.

But What how? It's 1758
Clearly a conquests victory is out
Persia seams to be chucking out quite a few wonders so don't think I will have a cultural victory.
Is UN my main option left? and if so how should I maximise my chances

There is also a large blank part of the map almost all the bottom lefthand corner I suspect another civ is out their on a containent.

Sorry yeah I am playing as the Persian's against the Arabs. My mistake. Will look at posting a save or screen shots when I get back onto the laptop.

thanks

I assume that you are on a PC with Windows, so that you have the editor. If you look at the Culture Menu in the editor, it will give you the various culture ratios, and also the effect of culture on resistors in captured cities. The higher the culture level ratio, up to 3 to 1, the lower the chances of resistors continuing to resist.

If you are on a Mac, which I am for the most part, let me know and I will post the ratios on the forum. I bought a used Windows box for game editing, and I am working on getting information from the editor posted for Mac users without an editor.

Your right sorry man. I thought if you got dowed for any reason you get war happiness...guess not. I tested it out with a few old saves and never got war happiness once :crazyeye:

I never knew that you did not receive war happiness when a DOW is triggered by a failed espionage mission.

Once again, I learn something new after years of playing this game.

playing on Warlord as Persia. Only civs left are the run away Arabs and beaten down America. It's the 1940's and I am making a beeline in research for the UN which I will build quickly with a SGL.

By trading and swoping maps and exchanging science I have the Americans loving me and in a MPP with me. The Arabs where very happy with me up to recently when they have started making bigger demands off me for trades. I seem to have coal which they don't but I am giving it to them just getting a lot less in return. They have also not renewed by MPP with them.

With three civ's including me, do I only need one of them to vote along with me?

Can i get the Arabs to come back into a MPP with me while I am in one with the Americans?

Thanks

To I like pies:
Take screenshots by hitting the print screen button, usually above the numeric keypad. Open MS Paint and paste it into there. Edit it as needed. Save as a jpeg. Upload here or to Imageshack, Photobucket, Shutterfly or another image hosting site.

To Ronanp:
If you build the UN, get the Americans into an alliance vs the Arabs, then hold the election. If you are worried about the Americans surviving, gift a weak city of yours to them where you can protect them.

thanks overseer

The americans are really beaten down maybe four small towns all surounded by Arab cities. Have gifted them all my defensive sciences but wouldn't have huge faith in them standing up to the arabs. Likewise I wouldn't feel very comfortable getting into an extended war with the Arabs.

I would prefer to hold out for the first vote and see how it goes and at that point if it's a hung vote I will try the war option in the round before the next vote
