I don't think that DoWs via MPP cause WH at all. At least a DoW via MA doesn't give you anything at all, and neither does a DoW after a failed espionage mission. The only ways to get some is to be sneak attacked, to be DoWed after turning down extortion demands, to be DoWed after "leave of declare" orders, or certain broken peace deals.

It might however be possible that the WH that had been stored up from a prior war begins to start kicking in again in a new war regardless how the new war was started. For example, at a certain point a civ makes extortion demands which you turn down. The civ Civ DoWs you. At that point you presumably are at -30 WW-points. Now fast-forward a few turns. You make peace, which makes all WW-points not apply any more, only to redeclare war right away, which resets the WW-point counter to the state of the last war, i.e. -30 points.

Yeah, the game definitely "remembers" your previous state of War Happiness/Weariness from your last war (for a period of turns)........Unfortunately! ;)

Exactly what causes the stupid domestic advisor to say that a city is growing slowly? She says so even if a city has granary and makes 5 extra food per turn, so that it grows on every second turn. (A settler factory…)

Not that it matters much, but it would be interesting to know when she thinks a city grows fast enough. :smoke: Would she change her mind if I didn't build a settler every four turns?

The domestic advisor is stupid, i have noticed that. Just don't listen to her. I still haven't found out why she does that... does anyone have an explanation?

About the same time as the science adviser decides you are researching well enough. I think that is never. Making 4 turn break through with zero % research slider and the advise is to spend more on research???

Have 500 troops and they are down to OCC for the last civ and they say we should build more of you name it.

The only Advisor I take any notice of is the Foreign Advisor....to tell you when a Deal Is Acceptable.

So, apart from the FA, my advice to you is: Don't take any advice from the Advisors! ;)

The domestic advisor tells me that when I have a full city and have yet to research anywhere near Sanitation. I think that the program is set to tell you that whenever a city is not growing or growing at less than 1 citizen per turn or so. When I have a full city and am closer to Sanitation, I am told that the city needs a hospital. Of course, I get the same message in TETurkhan Test of Time, where the city is set to something like 56, and the town is set to 24 or so. I get a laugh when the science advisor tells me that science funding is barely adequate and I am researching at a rate of 4 turns per tech. I have even gotten that when I have reset minimum research time to 2 turns, and I am taking only two turns. That shows up whenever my research slider is 50% or less.

Added Note: I agree with EMan, the foreign advisor is never wrong, and I ignore everyone else. Culture advisor keeps bugging me to build colosseums too.

Well, it's not so much the lack of good advice that bothers me, it's rather the lack of sanity. :crazyeye:

Sometimes I find that a look at the military advisor screen can be helpful too, to get an idea about the size of my opponents armies.

Someday, the advisors will be smart. Maybe in Civillization 10....

Advisors? What about the stupid AI's? The only reason why civlization 3 has difficulty levels is becaue the AI's get advantages. I can't wait until smart AI's come out in the future.

i have a few times been told i was spending enough on science, but at the time science had 100% funding-which of course means i was spending nothing on happiness, making my domestic advisor complain:lol:
at any rate advisors are not to be trusted and i would fire them all if i could
(and yes, the AI is at times disturbingly stupid)

well got my first space race victory on Warlord, yippee.

Few questions as always after a game.

Someone stole my miltary plans is there a way to find out who did it?

If I take over a city with a wonder in it and I raze it, can I then rebuild that wonder?

The AI's seam to copy me, am I imagining it?

like everyone is a peace and then one war kicks off and within a few turns they are all at it. Happened twice big time in the game

I built a radar tower to give me a clearer view of the other side of choke point baracade. Then all of a sudden they are all building radar towers, which I had never seen before.

So is it the case that the AI is lead by you to some extent?

thanks guys

Wonders can never be built again after they are destroyed.
Radar towers are supposed to give defensive bonuses, so all the AIs build them right away after they get the tech.
As for the World War, this is because of mutual protection pacts. When one civilization declares war on on another, the other civs that are allied to that civ declare war on the other.

i notice when i conquer a new city, i rarely have the option of razing it or taking it over. occasionally the computer presents me with that option, but more often, the city just gets razed when my unit enters it without the computer first presenting me with the option.

yet, when i read thru the strategy articles and posts on civfanatcs, players are always discussing this choice, as though one had the choice every time. so whats the deal?

thanks

A town with only 1 population will always raze if it wasn't yours before or if it has never had any culture. 2 or more population or with culture, razing is a choice.

Not sure about the plans, but I think that you can conduct counterespionage.

No, you are not imagining the AI copying you to an extent. I have noticed that as well, especially at the lower levels, where often you have a tech lead over the AI. It also appears to pick up your style of play, and mimic that in future games.

As indicated elsewhere, the AI really seems to like radar towers. In a couple of cases, where I must have checked too many boxes, the AI was building radar towers in the Ancient Age, even though they did not work. Nice thing is, it cost them a worker for every radar tower.

wow you guys are quick with the answers! thanks. and as such, i'll ask one more q if may...(tried to find the answer elsewhere in the forums but was unsuccessful)

i'm playing as carthage on this island map wherein the mongols have to come thru my territory (there's a choke point between me and mongolia) to massacre the ottomans. so basically, there's a huge mongol army in my territory...which is fine with me as long as they're killing ottomans and not me!

right now, i am also at war (technically) with the ottomans...but i want to make peace with them to extract a tech i want to trade to all the other civs (only the ottomans have it).

here he question: i dont have an alliance with the mongols, but if i make peace with ottomans, will that make the mongols more likely to attack me? does the ai have a sort of, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" understanding of the game? (thus making it more likely for them to spank me if i make peace with their enemy, the ottomans?)

sorry that was long-winded. not much of a writer. :)

I have had very good luck with an ROP that is made to make it easier for AI troops to get through your land to get to someone else. I have never had this ROP abused and it gets them out of your land more quickly.

Others (better players than I) will likely not agree with that but it has worked for me and I get the happy points with the AI for this.
