'Cuz I've never scored anything higher than around 8,000! ;)

You might want to look at the tabs there. You can submit for lots of different victory conditions on different sized maps. Scores of 8000+ are hardly ever required.

Spoonwood Add-on: There are open slots in the HOF Tables........So, all you have to do is win the game according to the victory condition parameters (I.e. Victory Condition, Difficulty Level, Map Size.)

For example: There is an open slot in the Diplomatic/Warlord/Small Map table. Even if you won the game at 2049AD you'd still get in the table!

Or, how about Spaceship/Chieftain/Small Map?

For most HOF entries (except the Histographic Victories), it's the game-year the victory occurs that's the primary factor, not the game score. :)

Thanks guys. Maybe I'll have a look-see in a bit. Right now though I gotta recover from an exhaustive Macedon campaign with some .

I read somewhere on the forum that a patch exists to remove the limit of 512 cities on a map. I've looked about on the site and on the 'net in general, but I can't find it. Am I being blind, is it well hidden or does it not exist? I'm in the middle of making a 360x360 map of the world so it'd be quite handy if it did exist because I've run out of cities and I still have most of central Russia to populate.

Of course, playing such a map detracts from the game because micromanagement becomes a really tedious task.

Is there a way to get popups when a city produces something to trigger you to change what it will make next when in multi-player?
I've searched settings, and tried to disable everything in the city governor, but every time as city produces something, it just moves on to produce something else without asking me.
Any ideas?

Try the preferences panel (Ctrl + P). I have it enabled for PBEM.

I've verified preferences and tried messing with the city govenor. The preferences are set the same as my single player games, which work with the normal popups for end of production.
Any other ideas?

What type of multiplayer are you doing?

What type of multiplayer are you doing?

Local Area Network (LAN). I just got a second computer in the house with the ability to play on both, and wanted to improve over the hotseat which always was annoying in that some hotseat players couldn't see any other player moves. I talked to ATARI at the time about the problem with hotseat, and they said "most people don't use hotseat anyway". So now we're using the multiplayer the way "most people" do, and we see significant difficulties when we have multiple cities and don't want to look at each during each turn to verify we don't need to change anything.
More than you asked for, I'm sorry.
LAN is how we're playing.

No, no, it's quite alright. I haven't ever played LAN civ, if it's not in preferences then somewhere with the governor, but its out of my field of expertise.

I've only played single-player, but I would suggest trying altering the three circled settings. There is one "Show Fewer Multiplayer Popups" which might be the first I make sure is unchecked.

"Ask for Build Orders after Unit Construction" in single player pops up a prompt after each unit is built; I usually have this unchecked, but in a recent game I was MM'ing and changing builds based on current spt, so I had it turned on so I could check the city after each unit.

"Always Build Previously Built Unit" in single player makes it just build the same unit repeatedly wihtout asking me, or if "ask for orders" is also checked it will ask but default to the same unit instead of suggest something it wants.

Also be aware that a lot of the preferences are saved in the game file, and if you for example download a save from someone else you may inherit their settings for that game. I don't know how this would be affected by LAN games.

There was a trick I read recently about barb settings not being honored for mods/scenarios I think, and the fix was to start and epic game with the settings wanted, then quit and start the mod/scenario. It might be worth trying that in your case; start a single-player epic, set preferences, play a turn or two or save, then quit and start the multiplayer. I have no idea if that will help, but it's something to try.

I'll give these a try and let you know if anything works. Thanks for the attempted help.

Update: the preference I was looking for is :Ask for Build Orders After Unit Construction. For some reason, it doesn't work correctly when it is selected in LAN games, but it does in single player or hotseat games. Anybody have any suggestions?

Change the preferences from the main menu, then load the savegame?

Hi,

I have a possible stupid question again (Civ3: Conquest).

I started a new game and the landscape has lots of dots (appearently to their uses - grassland has got 2 green dots, while plains got 1 green and one grey).

When I loaded a savegame from the last days they are not there. Also I doublechecked the terrain files and they are not there either.

Did I somehow accidently activated somehow. When yes: How do I turn them off again?

Thanks!

It's not in the terrain files. It's a graphics option. Open up the Options window and you will a check box that turns it on or off.

OK so this has been probably answered before but I could not find it any where in the forums.

At the end of the game when the warrior hits the block and then ranks you do you know what the last ranking is? Like the things that say foolish, wise, etc.

I just recently got magnificent but there was still one above it! Does anyone know what that last title is?
