Yes they need to know Refining or they not going to be able to trade oil.

Guess I was wrong about that. But here's another suggestion, if want to trade for oil with a nation that has more than one source of oil, but not the Refining discovery, you can sell/trade the Refining discovery to them, and then purchase/trade for the their extra oil.

I cant open your game. What operating system you using?

XP SP3. It's a C3C save, did you try right-clicking and then save as? The file works for me.

I'm not sure if screenshots would be a good option, it's a huge map.

If you're at war with Russia, just work your way up to the resource and capture it. But don't bypass Russian cities to get to it, or, as I said, it's just a waste of resources to defend it, and keep it from defecting to Russia.

That's what I've started, yes, or rather I've continued my war against Russia and made progress.

I get a data io operation system error bic when trying to open it. From what I read, we probably have different versions upgrade levels. I have v1.29f. What you got?

id be afraid to try to updating to a higher version while I have a current saved game going on.

Unless Civ3 would let me make a copy of the civ3 folder, and update one folder, and leave the other one alone. That might work, considering you have to have your CD to start the game. Anyone know?

Love to take a look at your current game with your saved game, and give my thoughts. Not sure how to do that though. I still could with a few screen shots of the theatre.

He has Conquests (C3C = Civ 3 Complete). 1.29f is for Vanilla.

I can open it with Seedbeast. I opened it with CaII and is 1.22. BTW it will not hurt your saves, even if it was patched to a different level. If it is prior to 1.20 it will not load in 1.22.

Where can I download Seedbeast? Can I open it with that? i have civ3 v1.29f.

If I have a hydro plant, and I build a nuclear plant, do I keep the hydro plant, and it just doesnt get used? -- where I can sell it, or keep it as a backup should my nuclear plant get bombed?

It is in the utilities forum. It was created to let players find the Seed number from a saved game. I use to to find the map settings, which can also be gotten with CAII. It can load final patched version of all three games.

I never have build a nuc plant. In all plant types only one is actually in use. The obsolete plant can be sold, if it was not from a wonder. I am not sure of the conditions under which two plants will be in the list of structures.

I build coal plants only and they get replaced by hydro, if I get Hoovers. Never have built a solar either.

At least sometimes, the obsolete plant is automatically sold. I think this happens when you hand build the new plant. It does not happen when you build Hoover Dam. I don't know if it happens in all versions, but it does in at least one of PTW and Conquests.

Hello, I have a stack of 50 units army = 20 infantry, 20 thanks and 10 artillery. How can I wake up just some group of them without of big scrolling?

You can wake all of them then select one of the kind you want (say a Tank) and select 'move all units of this type' (Ctrl+X) and all the Tanks will move on their own.

No, you can't bombard in a block. You can use the advanced settings to automatise bombing but this should be used carefully, as each turn the same artillery piece will expend all of its movement points on bombing each turn, and you don't have much control over when it does actually happen.

Not quite true - most land Bombard-capable units are only capable of making 1 Move, so it's true for them, but ships set to Auto-Bombard are still capable of movement after firing.

Well, yes, that's when you don't have Blitz and you have more than one movement point. Sheesh, I should play the epic game more…

Ive taken an enemy nation down to one city, which is on the coast. I want to keep this enemy nation an active city-state nation, so that I can make alliances against it. I simply surround it, so no other nation can touch it. I make alliances with the big world power (England), against the little city-state nations, so that the big world power will be happy with me, and not attack me, because the AI thinks it's at war with these nations (that it can't even touch). This gives me time to build in strength, and maneuver for the final show down with England.

In regards to the current enemy one-city remaining, it's on the coast. So Im trying to coax this nation to capture a city of mine, that's not on the coast, and then I can capture their coastal city instead -- a swap. That way that city state has no trade potential with England, plus the coast city has better territory.

Ive built the 'bait' city one square away from the enemy coastal city-state. The bait city is undefended with no army units; and it's filled the the enemies' citizens; and I dont have any of my units in striking range. This 'bait city' maneuver has worked before; but for whatever reason they aren't biting. Any ideas how I can encourage the enemy city state to capture my bait-city?
