Quick Answers / 'Newbie' Questions

You have to capture it with a unit. Then bring the unit to the capitol. AoI I just disband them as they are too numerous and often to far away (Africa has no victory location).

How do you do that? i tried having a warrior "get" it and nothing happened. Also there was nothing in the thing. i tried it with a wonder and just a build :crazyeye:

it disappeared when I had a unit [escort] it. and not a word in the pedia.

Yes, you have both the transporting unit and the caravan in the same spot and then there's a weird button (I think you can press S) and then the caravan should disappear but its name should change to red on the map and have exclamation marks!!! in the right-hand corner description. That means it's alreayd 'escorting' one unit, you take the unit to your capital city and you get your benefits.

thank you - I'll try that in my next game if possible.

Otherwise you can go for the classical civ solution to all problems and exterminate every single other nation :)

Move a unit to the tile. A button to capture should be available. You can tell you have it captured, IF your unit is now showing a red title. Your unit moves and the captured item is still on the tile vacated, you did not capture it.

Once captured, move the unit to your capitol and you will see it no longer has the red title and you gain the gold boost.

thank you for this. if I ever get the chance to make another one - I'll try it

I've searched and haven't found an answer to this...

Civ IV now starts up with what looks like a family of settlers instead of just one and three warriors together in one square. When a city creates units there's two together and AI units appear as two together. I've not played the game for long like this as I find it annoying. It didn't do that for all the games I've played before today.

If it weren't for the change in the settler I'd think it was a bug. I've got the Mac version and it did have a major screw up when I just tried to use World Builder - ice caps appear in middle of map then things get all screwed up and it freezes.

Nevermind. Think I figured it out under graphics options...

Hi Welcome to the forums!! Right now, you are on the CivIII part.
For Newbie questions about CivIV you can go here:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=134903

And, let me not be a spoil, but units in CivIV are shown as groups instead of a single icon, so see one 'person' in the group is a health unit. So losing all the 'persons' in the unit will kill the unit. If you have 1 of 3 left, the unit has 1/3 of his health.

Question:
We have catapult (owned by all civs), all prerqs to build it and capture it from enemy. This unit is capturable (no attack or def). It is classic.
And we have some country-specified capturable unit (some artyllery), that is upgradeable version of standart artillery unit and pre-unit of next-stage all-owned MLRS. Could another country capture this country-specified capturable unit?

When I have captured H'wachas they died on the spot I believe even though I had Artillery skills at the time. Best wait to see if others have the same response. I've played so many games it is hard to remember all the details but I seem to recall it that way.

No, you have to be able to build a unit to capture it. H'wachas die on the spot as darski says.

However, you can enslave the unit and turn it into workers or whatever you've set in the editor.

well, of course, but those you can't enslave at all, regardless of nationality.

No, you have to be able to build a unit to capture it. H'wachas die on the spot as darski says.

Also, if an artillery unit is more advanced than your tech level, it can't be captured. So if you don't have Metallurgy, cannons are destroyed.

Well that's what spryllino said, since if you do not have the tech prerequisite then you can't build the unit. ;)

I was clarifying what he said, it wasn't totallly obvious.

Hello guys!
I play civilization III conquests for a good time, but the hardest lvl I can play is Emperor
I think the main problem is the GPT I have on games, cause I know how to use workers, how to upgrade the best tiles and trade to the AI, but I've never had a great GPT! I have downloaded some saved game files from the best players in forum and I see that, even in ancient times, they get a lot GPT from AI, but in ancient times there is not a thing I can do to make them give me more than 1 GPT!

How the hell you get gpt from them?! Pleasee answer :D
Thanks!

GPT isn't useful by itself, what counts is what you can do with that gold…

Welcoma to CFC! [party]
