You have to capture it with a unit. Then bring the unit to the capitol. AoI I just disband them as they are too numerous and often to far away (Africa has no victory location).

Yes, you have both the transporting unit and the caravan in the same spot and then there's a weird button (I think you can press S) and then the caravan should disappear but its name should change to red on the map and have exclamation marks!!! in the right-hand corner description. That means it's alreayd 'escorting' one unit, you take the unit to your capital city and you get your benefits.
How do you do that? i tried having a warrior "get" it and nothing happened. Also there was nothing in the thing. i tried it with a wonder and just a build
it disappeared when I had a unit [escort] it. and not a word in the pedia.
Move a unit to the tile. A button to capture should be available. You can tell you have it captured, IF your unit is now showing a red title. Your unit moves and the captured item is still on the tile vacated, you did not capture it.
Once captured, move the unit to you capitol and you will see it no longer has the red title and you gain the gold boost.
Hi Welcome to the forums!! Right now, you are on the CivIII part.I've searched and haven't found an answer to this...
Civ IV now starts up with what looks like a family of settlers instead of just one and three warriors together in one square. When a city creates units there's two together and AI units appear as two together. I've not played the game for long like this as I find it annoying. It didn't do that for all the games I've played before today.
If it weren't for the change in the settler I'd think it was a bug. I've got the Mac version and it did have a major screw up when I just tried to use World Builder - ice caps appear in middle of map then things get all screwed up and it freezes.
Nevermind. Think I figured it out under graphics options...
No, you have to be able to build a unit to capture it. H'wachas die on the spot as darski says.
Well that's what spryllino said, since if you do not have the tech prerequisite then you can't build the unit. Also, if an artillery unit is more advanced than your tech level, it can't be captured. So if you don't have Metallurgy, cannons are destroyed. No, you have to be able to build a unit to capture it. H'wachas die on the spot as darski says.
