Quick Answers / 'Newbie' Questions

Wow, I'm posting on this a lot.
The only blood I've ever seen is on the victory screen for conquest. A few people had messed up faces.

I suspect, but do not remember it was a review prior tofinal release. I do recall that topic came up, but I bet it was removed in the final release. If you put that in as some games have, you tend to put in a means to remove it.

Random question that I have noticed in my experience with complete. Why do Civs of the American culture group get picked so often as the random ones? Game after game I get 3 or more of America, Maya, Iroquis, Aztec as the AI civs. Would turning off culturally linked starting locations stop this? ((I don't even think the culturally linked locations works, but that may be anecdotal to me))

Yes, I have noticed that as well. I usually remedy that by wiping any of those out as soon as I can. Can someone help with this?

Oh, and another thing. How comes no one ever accepts the "Grant Us A Loan of Gold?" plea?

If you offer them say 2gpt for 1 gold and they decline, while having the gold, then your rep is broken and no gpt deals can be made. You can also test it by making a deal they will accept and then adding 1gpt and if it is rejected, you know.

I don't know why the answer to "Grant us a loan" is always no, but if you actually make an offer (say, I'll give 2 gpt for 36 g) they'll take it (assuming your rep is intact and both sides have the money needed).

It can only be either they do not have the gold or your rep is bad or you do not have the gpt you offer.

now ı have been at my first tiny baby steps into modding and ı see there are unit_32 files for a bunch of dinosaurs (if ı remember correctly) numbered at around 200 , and ı have now seen it mentioned offhandly that they are in PTW . Which scenario does have them ?

Yes, those dino's - 12 of them - sit in the PTW extra's folder, with animations and everything complete. It would be logical to think the game developers had made a scenario with them, but they haven't.
They don't fit in the game well at all, even fans haven't used those graphics much in their scenario's.

No, that isn't the question. The question is, why can't you get a loan using the "Will you loan me money" line as you enter diplomacy when the AI will loan you money if you ask them in the negotiation screen.

You can, but the Civ you're asking it from should be at least polite, maybe even gracious, not sure.

And of course you must be sure that you have a positive income over the next turn. Since you can't offer gold per turn if you're running at a deficit. And you need a clean trade rep.

AFAIK you can always get a loan, if they have the gold and you can pay and you do not have a bad rep. Attitude I do not think plays any role. I can make deals with them, while they are furious with me.

Post a save and I will check it out.

If you capture a wonder that you don't have the prerequisite for, is it destroyed or do you just not get the bonus until you discover the prereq. I'm sure it's in the civilopedia, but I''m too lazy to look it up .

You have to have the tech to capture units, such as cannon and artillery or it will be destroyed. Wonders, I am not sure, but I would think not. If it was SoZ, you would not get the unit without ivory regardless.

KT, I would expect you would at least get the tourist aspects and probably the Crusader as well, but never ran into it.

The wonder I'm specifically worried about is the Art of War, if that helps anyone's answer at all. I'm playing as the Celts so I don't want to research Feudalism until I get plenty of Gallic Swordsmen (They downgrade to Medieval Infantry).

I'm having a wee bit of trouble with deleting saved games in Civ3:Conquest. The saves map is empty, yet ingame I can see my old save games I no longer want. What do I do?>_>

I assume that by saves map you mean the screen on the Load portion of the menu.

What you do is go to the program files for the game (the game should be in the Fraxis Games folder) and click on saves. You then highlight all the files you want deleted, press enter and they're sent to the recycle bin. I have XP, so I have no clue what the deal is with vista or Windows 7 or whatever you have.

edit: POST 999!

A little more detailed for the man. (This is XP)

My Computer--> Local Disk (C:)--> Program Files--> Firaxis Games--> Civilization III Complete--> Conquests--> Saves and then delete what you don't want.
