Well, sistines is nice, agreed.

But you dont reckon going for one of the ancients is all right?
Not even the lighthouse or artemis?

I cant even remember the last time I got a SGL, so thats why I want to use him right.. :)

(The archi island I got is pretty big actually. I think about 20 cities can be put there.)

do the computers cities ever change civilisation likes yours can?
and im currently got the best culture of every civilisation and im trying to use propoganda, but it never works, and now all the other civs are immune to propoganda. how are they immune?

Yeah, the computer's cities can change hands either by culture or war, just like yours.

Civilizations are immune to propaganda if they are a Democracy. Try to get them to change government by getting them in wars, (as the war weariness will hurt them and make them revolt).

It's almost impossible to get them to revolt, all the other civs are all peaceful with each other and trading luxuries between them so they all have extreme happiness! and when trading them with me i always have to give em some gold otherwise they wont accept!
well, thx for the answer

I've gotten them to revolt before... actually, a couple of times. The trick is to get them to size one.

On Map set-up, has anybody done a study of what the differences are between:
A. Arid versus Wet
B. Warm versus Cool?

On A, do you get more Plains than Jungles?

On B, do you get more Deserts than Tundras? :)

Thanks GA! :goodjob: (See Below)

I swear I checked the FAQ before writing this. You know how people somtimes have links to other parts of this websight in there posts or in there sig.? Somebody please tell me how to do that.
Oh and by the way Eman there is a poll about it in the forums. I would have a link to it for you but you know.

EMan:
A: Arid: more deserts, probably plains too. Wet would be more jungle/marsh.
B: Warm would be more grassland / plains, and less tundra. Cool is less desert / plains.

I don't think anyone has tested it. Perhaps I'll find some time to. :)

dannergreg: That stuff relates to the site, not Civ3, so it shouldn't really be in this thread, but it's: [ url=http://www.your-url-here.com]Whatever Text To Display[/ url], without the spaces after the bracket.

Quick question : What is that "no-parking" sign on the right top of some of the civ advance (science) in the science tab means ? thanks

It means that the technology is not required to advance to the next era.

so for me to advance....i need to research all but those above said civ advancement? correct?

Click the "Reply" button. Above the text box, you will see a "WebLink" symbol (a globe with a chain-link below it). Click that, and follow the instructions. :)

Hi all, first post.

Ive been playin a game, warlord, huge map with french, in 1st tech era, and no matter how much i put the science slider up to its always taking 32 turns to research a new tech. Is there anyway to get it to speed up, because it doesnt matter whether I'm spending 1 gold on science or 47, it still goes the same. Appreciate the help.

Some techs early on are so expensive that regardless of how much science you spend, it will still take the maximum number of turns. When this happens, best to go on minimum science spending, save up some cash, and try and use that tech to trade for once you finish researching it.

Techs take a while to research if no one you know knows it, or if you don't have a lot of commerce.

Letting your cities grow, roading tiles for commerce (which it turn goes to science), and building libraries/universities will help. Also, switching governments out of Despotism into Republic (a good choice for selfresearching) or Monarchy is a good idea.

32 turns isn't too bad for a tech in the ancient age when no one knows it and you don't have libraries / many cities.

edit: Crosspost with Turner. We both have good things to say.

Program files, find the Atari folder, go to the civiii or conquests folder (IIRC), find "Saves" then move the one you want to delete onto your desktop and put in the the trash. Bye bye file.

I tried this. Got to the "Saves" folder (it was in Conquests), dragged three games to the desktop, and then dragged them to the Bin and emptied it. After that, Civ III would not boot back up. I kept getting a Error 28 message, "Font Error." After messing around with that for a while, I finally had to uninstall/install the whole program to get it to work.

Anybody else have any idea how to delete games once you're done with them? I'm kind of tight on drive space.

Whomp has the right method. You must've dragged the font file to the trash with your saves. When you get to the Conquests Saves folder, just select all the Saves you want to delete, and either right click them and click delete, or drag them to the Recyling Bin. Trust me, it works.

There's a thread on another message board about this situation, and there appears to be some confusion.

Evidently, the human player is in a democracy, and had just waged a long war against korea. The war vs korea was waged in monarchy. The player then changed over to democracy AFTER the war against korea. And then was immediately attacked by the americans. After america took a couple cities from the player, the player's civ went into anarchy. Not just some city revolts, but full on anarchy.

Because the topic poster is too dumb or whatever to do what was suggested and post a savegame here (as he's been instructed), the thread has devolved into a mishmash of "I did this, and then I did that, and then this happened" and so on and so on, and generally every answer he gets, is met with "but i did this....."

The general consensus on the other thread is that he went into anarchy because of too much war weariness, but, does war weariness accumulate even in the civ is in monarchy? I understand if you are in a democracy and have war weariness, it takes several turns (20?) AFTER you make peace, for it to fully go away. If you start another war immediately after declaring peace, you don't start out with "zero" war weariness, correct? Doesn't it take a while for the ww to finally die down? I know that you can make your peeps happy immediately if you get peace, but isn't there some "residual" type ww that lingers and pops up if you get back into a war too quickly?

And could this "residual" war weariness be produced from a war waged in monarchy? Oh yeah, this is for C3C....
