Thanks in advance.
a) Sure! Of course, you need Military Tradition, horses, saltpeter, a barracks and money, but other than that it's quite possible to skip knights and directly upgrade to cavalry.
b) It's 1000 calendar years. So a very early temple will have its culture doubled in only a few dozen turns, while a temple built after 1051 won't get double culture before the game ends.

a) I'm fairly sure it is.
b) It's 1000 years.

Heh. this happened yesterday and I was the quickest. How indeed are the mighty fallen.

The answere to the first one is yes you dont need Chivalry i never bother with it.

The answere to the second one is yes i think its 1000 years or equivalent amount in turns.

B) 1000 years.

EDIT: Whoops, didn't scroll far enough before responding!

Tanks a lot for all your responses :goodjob:
Maybe this indicates I should have known the answers myself, huh?
Anyways, I should have asked earlier, my GOTM 44 would have been much better then...

Does your rep get damaged if cities culture flip to you or if you gain them via propaganda ? Its seems that the AI never gets anoyed if cities culture flip or if you use propaganda against them, regardless of it if works or not. Human players tho can get very anoyed especially in the case of propaganda.

There's a slight attitude adjustment in the case of regular flips (they like you more if you rebuff the rebels, less if you install a new governor), but the effect is not always big enough to be visible. I assume that flips due to propaganda are treated the same, but I don't know that for sure.

edit: Is it possible to tell if propaganda has caused a flip?

It is possible if someone uses it on you and it fails you gt a message stating how propaganda has upset the citizens of whatever city was targeted. Does not tell you who did it tho as far as im aware.

a) Yes. Useful to know if you don't have Iron but do have Saltpeter - skip Chivalry, go straight for MilTrad (and build Leo's, that's a good plan too).
b) 1000 years - so clearly building earlier when 1 turn = more years gets that double culture quicker.

[Edit oops! A bit late there...]

Is it possible to find out for certain if someone has been cheating on multiplayer ? The reason i ask is when playing multiplayer one player has been accused of cheating a few times. It only seems to happen tho when they host the game if that makes any difference. My opinion is they probably arnt cheating but i would like to be able to confirm it beyond doubt either way for all involved. As far as im aware if someone cheats the game goes out of sync on multiplayer ?

Frollo you are incorrect, unfortunately  ... Big rule with multiplayer pbem is limit or never reload, and apparently there are some utility programmes out there that can unfairly advantage or even edit the save ...

Yes you can tell if this type of cheating has occured in pbem, maybe also in other multiplayer forms ... i suggest that you post on the multiplayer thread or if for some reason don't feel cool about that ... PM some of the game administrators for the info

Hope this helps

Its standard internet multiplayer ive never played PBEM but can just guess by some of the topics hear what could be done. Im not convinced there is any cheating going on but it would be nice to be able to clear him beyond doubt and well if he is cheating prehaps he can explain why ? Thanks anyway.

What is the record for getting the same answer to the same question asked only once?

LOL
Surely has to be 6 in less than 4 hours.........Quite amazing really!....Was a pretty good question(s) though! :)

Does that mean we had 5 "spam" answers + your post + mine = 7 spam-posts in response to ONE question?! :mischief:

What is PBEM?

What system requirements are generally needed to play multiplayer on line?

I have basic DSL connections at home and a decent CPU, will this hold up play? Is play still turn based or is it in real time? If it's real time, how often does a "year" go by?

Thanks,

Stunner :goodjob:

Play be email, each player plays their turn, saves the game and emails it to the next person.

Based on your specs, you can definitely do PBEM, and probably online play as well. IIRC, most online is real time (simultaneous turns) but I haven't done it in a long while.

Online play can be done as turns (with or without a timer), simultaneous turns and theres also a turnless mode as well. Your specs will easily handle online play even dial up seems to as long as its not hosting it.
