Is there any way to end a trade embargo against me? I was the most successful and advanced civilization and naturally everyone hated me so suddenly the 2nd best civ declared war on me and several turns later signed a trade embargo with a civ I was doing my best to make love me for their luxuries. Now I'm at peace with that 2nd best civ after smashing them with battleships but still can't trade and cant find a way to end this trade embargo and get to the goodies. Anyone know a way to do this?

The only way i can think of getting round this is by getting some kind of alliance with them against the instegator if that happens they will drop the embargo.

correct. the only way to fix this is have the one of the two civs declare war on the other

But then I am one of those few people who actually reads a manual (I know that is going to come back to me...)
Don't worry, I read the manual too! So that makes two of us! :D

Since "palace" IS a wonder, did you mean "...while building a unit or city improvement..."? :)
IIRC, the Palace ISN'T a Wonder in vanilla civ3.

As Lord Parkin said, the palace is not a wonder, small or otherwise. But yes, saying 'while building a unit or city improvement' would be more accurate. ;)

The Palace is "wonder-like" in that if shields "go" to a city building the Palace, they don't help it finish but you will not be allowed to switch to a wonder afterwards.

P.s. And, if you have 2 cities equidistant from a forest being chopped, AND the "designated" city is building a Palace, the 10 shields will go to the other city. (Assuming it is building a unit or improvement.) ;)

So the palace is a small wonder.

Speaking of forests. Whats the distance between a town and a forest for you to get the 10 shield bonus when cut, 20 squares? how come forest squares 5 away didn't go to my nearest to my nearest town? Another civ's domain did cut it off land wise. I wasn't trying to build any wonders there though. Do you need a road a forest you clear to get its bonus?

If you cut a forest the same distance from two towns and neither town is building a wonder, how does the game decide which one the 10 shield go to?

I'm playing conquest, none of that differs from plain civ right?

It's not listed in the Civilopedia as a Small Wonder but it effectively is like one.......as is the Forbidden Palace. ;)

If you view the Forest square like a "City Center", the town must be within the "20-square city radius" of the Forest square for you to get the bonus. ;)

Nope.

Don't think that makes any difference......except that Lumberjacks are more "efficient" in C3C! ;)

A. For towns 1 square away from the forest, start at square NE of the forest and go clockwise. (viz. squares 1-8.....1 is Top Priority))

B. For towns 2 squares away from the forest, start at square NNE of the forest and go clockwise. (viz. squares 9-20.......9 is Top Priority)

The shields will always go to an eligible town one square away versus a town 2 squares away. ;)

Remember, you can only get the 10-shield bonus from each eligible square ONCE PER GAME! ;)

Not really. SW's can only be constructed once, while Palace can be built many times. So FP is a small wonder, while the Palace is not.

I'm pretty sure the Forbidden Palace can be rebuilt.

You can realocate citizens so they don't produce as much food or simply put them off work. Mining previously irrigated tiles is another way to limit food.

Can you control size of your cities somehow? I don't want them to grow more :(

Try clicking the worked tiles and make them specialists. Do this until you have zero growth.

And the forest must have road access or not be cut off by enemy domain? Otherwise why did I fail to get my 10 twice from forests about 5 squares away from my town?

If it was 5 tiles away then it wasn't inside the "20-square city radius". The "20-square city radius" refers to the fat "X" of workable tiles a city has.

What a confusing way to put it though. "20 square city radius" sounds like 20 squares from center as the definition of radius, not total square area. So basically you don't get the 10 unless they are inside a city radius? (but do get it if that radius isn't accessable yet because of limited domain?)
