I see... Are those percentages set for each goverment or can I fiddle with them? I tried moving Lux and Science slider for 2 turns but numbers didn't change so it can't be them two :)

You can fiddle with them all the time, and two of them are luxury and science. I'm not sure how they didn't change for you though if you were using the sliders on the F1 screen...

Yupp those were the ones I used... I lowered science one because it was 2 turns before the research was finished so for at least 2 turns science slider was lowered, but I still have the same numbers in down right corner... Will try and change Lux as well, see what happens

Keep in mind what the sliders are doing. They are changing the percentage of commerce allocated to each of the three areas in each city. Example, if you have a city producing 4 commerce, and you have the sliders at 50% tax, 50% science, 0% luxary - then 2 commerce will go to each. That translates into 2 gold and 2 beakers. If you switch it to 40/60 it may not change at all because 40% of 4 is still pretty close to 2! Now maginify that to every city, and you can see how sometimes if you aren't producing much commerce, changing the slider a little doesn't have much of an effect.

Does "irrigate brown, mine green" apply to all ages/goverments or just Despot one?
Opening Play Strategy......I know this is not what you asked.....but you might find it useful?

Step 1: Run MapFinder to save you ONLY Maps with at least 2 cows + 1 river. (This works well for most Victory Conditions, Map Sizes and Difficulty Levels.)

Step 2: Irrigate at least one of your cows. (I usually irrigate both of them.....for sure if they are both on plains!) ;)

How can I play a single player map with different numbers of AI opponents? I'd like 6 on the Tiny map, is there a config file I can edit?

Use the editer, create a random tiny map. Goto Scenario properties on that there will be an option called player options. You change that on there you have 31 if you really want. Ive done that a couple of times. Once you have done that save your map and load it as if it was a scenario.

Simple - it's 4096 on Civ3 and PTW, 8192 on Conquests. Nothing else to it. :)

Well I haven't been quite clear. I thought about number of Allowed units (F3) menu...
Also is there a way to start a war and not lose face? Like if I leave my units inside enemy borders for a long time and just ignore them, untill they anounce war? Would that work?

No, at first you will have a choice to ignore the other civs request for you to get your ass out of there. But shortly you will be faced with a choice between getting your troops automatically moved out of there or declaring war.(you would be the one declaring war, not the AI)

But if you keep going back the AI might get pissed enough at you to declare war. Much latter on you can use tech stealing etc to get the AI to declare war on you.

Well if your under your unit limit (based on number of cities and government) no. Otherwise everything does (including workers and settlers) except if they are captured/of another nationality. Like if you produce workers from a enemy city of that nationality you don't have to pay upkeep (but they work at half speed) same with settlers. And captured artillery also doesn't need upkeep.

Hey do cannons/artillery/etc cost anything to upkeep?
Yep, just like all units do. ;)

Yes, but I get 4 turns reserchtime all the way from 40-100% science.
That's because it's the default minimum research time, which is set in the editor. (You can change it yourself; not sure exactly where it is, maybe under the "General" tab, IIRC...) :)

So it is number of cities along with gov. that decides Allowed number of units? I can't keep up with Aztec military if I don't go over the line, and bastards have less cities than I do :)

Yes, that's correct. That information is available in the game's Civilopedia government section. Democracy (I *think*) is the only one with no allowed units, but everything else depends on your cities. For some, it's the same number of units allowed for every city. For others it'll depend/vary on towns, cities and metropoli.

If allowed units is a frequent concern for you, then good governments include Monarchy and Communism. Republic does have some allowed unit support, but it's 2gpt if you go over (whereas others are 1gpt).
