@namliaM: Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I went next to the city in the live game....It was size 2 with no defenders. I attacked the city....it went to size 1 when I declared war.....so then it was autorazed!

How much do you want to bet? (It only changes to 1 after War is declared!....If you don't believe me, try it from the .sav file!) ;)

Thanks for taking the interest, fe3333au......But I did all of the above before my first post on the subject! ;)

I think Bartleby's post was spot-on! :goodjob:
(I guess this is another advantage the AI has over us........viz. They can Pop-rush when we declare war, but we can't when the tables are reversed!)

That reminds me of something cracker once posted a long time ago... What version do you have? (vanilla/ptw/c3c and version number).

I think it's just the AI whipping the city during your turn. (Right after war is declared)

Not that I know of!!?

The AI's city in my screenshot had no units in it. :)
(So, when I attacked it with my War Chariot, War was Declared, the city went to size 1 simultaneously, and was auto-razed......No battle, No Golden Age, No units captured!) :)

(That's why I was wondering how it could go from size 2 to size 1 on MY turn!)

All cities lose population when they are captured. As such, all size 1 towns will be auto-razed. A size 2 town will lose 1 population, then it will be auto-razed if it has no culture.

Is there a place that sums up the differences that C3C adds to the game? I have Civ3 1.29 and I see most people have Conquests. When they submit screenshots there are new buttons and icons such as the little dagger in the diamond right next to the cities. I'm interested to learn more about the differences. Thanx

Thanks I appreciate it.

In a multiplayer game with my brother, (small 80% archi) i destroyed the vikings very early on without giving a damn about fair play. I then meet my bro, russia and zulu and the russians and zulus are polite. but then i meet the americans and they're furious with me. I'm pretty sure they never knew the vikings because the vikings never had map making, but no matter what i try they wont be nice. anyone have any idea why?

In C3C, Vikings can get the Currough with Alphabet. This can lead to early exploration. If the Vikings could reach the Americans without risk (AI will not risk sinking), then they could have made contact without map making.

Where on the PTW preferences screen do you get to choose the no-culture grouping option? I have the AIs selected at Random, but I'm getting a little tired of the same civs all the time.

Also, is there a civ which everybody seems to get? I've concentrated on the Romans (as a typical newbie) and Korea, and now I'm playing the Scandinavians, and the Babylonians have been in all 10 games or so.

I checked out the link about the C3C differences, I could not find a few things. What are the worker jobs you get associate with Masonry, Flight and Advanced Flight. And what are radar towers? What do they do? I think that is what the Advanced Flight thing is. And Flight looks like they brought back the airstrip from Civ2, but I cant figure out the thing on the Masonry at all. Thx

I guess this is going to seem really dumb but how do you create an army unit? I have a military leader created from when an elite won a battle but I can not get an army unit to make an army.

Go into any city. There will be two buttons, one for hurry improvement, one for create army. When you hit the create army button, your leader gets a flag and changes appearance a bit. You can then load units into it like you would a transport.

Choose carefully....once you up a unit in, you can't get it out.

A CIV player from Day One, I recently installed PTW on my system. However, I also had a nice game in Civ3 going that I wanted to complete--and maybe others after it. However, I would suddenly find myself at war every few turns. No declaration, just an announcement that "I'd lost my supply of (whatever)" followed by hostilities. Even tracking back and signing a Mutual Protection Pact would not change that.

I started another game which eventually started to show the same behavior which, needless to say, I had never encountered before.

I have tried uninstalling PTW, then uninstalling and reinstalling Civ3, all to no avail. They keep taking turns in bashing me and I cannot trust my friends anymore.

Has anyone heard of this problem? Is there a solution? Mebbe some file that was overwritten and is now lurking there unaffected by the uninstall? Please have mercy on my humble and peace-loving civilization and help!

Thanks, Watorrey. It IS typical of course. Te be sure, I've seen lots of bloodlust without rhyme or reason from the AI before, but AFAICT it always went with a panicky look from your advisor letting you know that "The (morons) have declared war on us". And I'd NEVER seen it from any AI adversary that I'd just by the end of the previous turn signed Mutual Protection with.

Have you?
