Probably just the RNG gods playing with you. Are you sure the city wasn't on a hill, or on the other side of a river?

How do you mean, "the capital uses the next size city graphic"? Are you talking about the capital appearing as a city even when it's a town, and a metropolis when it's a city?

I believe that is what Watorrey means. It has often felt to me as if the bonus does apply, but I don't know if it has been tested.

In Conquests, there are nice little action buttons you can click for this. ;) The keyboard command is "J", IIRC. In PTW and CIv3 v1.29f, it is also available as a keyboard shortcut. I think it changed in Conquests, so try "J", CTRL-J, and SHIFT-J. It should be one of those. (And someone will be along shortly to give you better info, I'm sure. ;) )

How do you move units together?(not fighting of course, just general movement) I thought their was a grouping command that allowed you to do this. This way if you want that horseman to guard that worker you dont have to manually move each in every turn.
When a unit flashes, indicating it's its turn, press J to move all units on that tile, and Ctrl+J to only move units of the same type.

Or was it Shift+J?

Press J to move the whole stack and ctrl-J for all units of the same type in stack. this is actually not "grouping" the units, only automatically moving them samewise.

If I have a peace treaty with the AI, then go into the Foreign Advisor screen and select the active deal, then cancel the peace treaty, the only option is to declare war on them.

If I do it this way, do the other AI's still hate me for it, or have I declared war through the proper channels? I notice that those civs that are polite to me remain so after I do this.

Thanks,

Stunner :goodjob:

That's not an issue to declare that way. The key is not to have units in their territory.
BTW when you click renegotiate peace the only option is not only declaring war. You can renegotiate 20 turns of peace with additional terms. IE maybe you'll get some gold or gpt etc. If you don't like the terms then go to war.

In effect, the 20 turns of peace from renegotiating peace turns into 40, though, and on the second 20 you won't have the option to get anything out of it. The AI always pops up on the turn the first deal ends and proposes a straight peace for peace deal; there's nothing you can do to stop it that I know of.

Good point Renata.

I don't know if it just the newer versions of C3C but mine uses ctrl-x along with ctrl-j... I Ususally use ctrl-x because I keep my right hand on the trackball and my left on the keyboard...

Sometimes my explorer/scout/warrior will see what looks like a massive rubble pile. Is that the ruin of some city that was destroyed in a war between 2 AI?
Yes, Exactly! :)

Correct. (To my knowledge,) Ruins are the remains of cities that have been razed (/destroyed) by warring civs. I think you may have to 'clean' the tile a la pollution to make it fully useful again, but I'm not really sure about that.

No it's not like pollution. :)

Ignore the "Rubble"....it's just like a regular square!
Under Vanilla/PTW, you'll also see a road on the square.........on C3C the road is "pillaged"! ;)

If you don't build on top of it or develop the land it will always be rubble. However the tile value doesn't ever change. IE if it's 2 food and 1 shield then it stays that way regardless of whether it's rubble or not.
