How do you get Mobilization of economy for war to work. I have nationalization. And read that all you need to do is hit a bar in the domestic adviser screen. But I can't find one. Playing ptw v1.21f.
Are you playing a standard game? Or maybe you're playing a scenario or a GOTM? I know that GOTM has this disabled as there are some exploits involving Mobilization.

Here it is, circled:

mobilization_sa.jpg

Click it and you can select "War-Time". Note that you can not turn it off once you turn it on. It says on until you make peace with someone (or kill them outright).

Dianthus thats it. I am playing gotm Mongols. Thanks answer guys.
No problem moondoggi. I've just been checking through the GOTM pages and it looks like cracker hasn't mentioned this since GOTM21! (I'll PM him so that he knows). There are a couple of other features of PTW that are disabled. See the PTW instructions for GOTM 21 (most of it should be applicable, I.e. the stuff about Outposts, Radar Towers & Airfields).

In relation to the latest patch, is the US okay for an Australian release of Civilization or the UK patch..

Unsure if they are different, but I don't want to take the risk until I know for sure..

(Question may be best answered by an Australian or New Zealander)

Has anyone had a problem adding Civ III .sav files to compressed folders in Win XP Home? I had no problem doing this using Zip in Win 98.

If you want to compress the save file, all you need to do is Ctrl-S. The user initiated save automatically compresses the file.

I don't have Home, so I'm not sure. Have you tried using a zip program on it, or just the compressed folders?

This kind of question is better suited for the Quick Answers thread. You'll get a better response next time.

C3C question:
This has probably been asked more times than I have posts but why do I, Sumer, get an extra commerce in my city square in my capital only? The agriculture trait should only apply to food and I get 3 as I should. But I have 3 commerce in my capital from the get-go. One for the road, one for the river, but what's the third? I'm also in despotism which makes it seem I actually have four but then lose one.
P.S. Arg no search. It's really heard to find questions already asked when you have dozens of pages of threads to look at.

You get a min of 4 commerce in your capital, unless the local tile would yield more (e.g. city on gold). As you noted, minus 1 for despot.

Nothing to do with sumer or C3C AFAIK

How do you take screenshots?

I have always wanted to take and post them but have no idea how to do so.

PrintScr

Then paste it into an image editor and save it as a .jpg preferably.

find your "Print Screen" key on your keyboard (usually above the "insert, home and page up keys").....hit it, then go to a graphics programs, a LOT of computers have "paint" (windows program). Once you have "Paint" open, open document and "paste" That should give you the screenshot

Do that, then upload you picture(s) to Civfanatics.net using the "Easy Upload" feature at the bottom of each page.
Once you've uploaded the pucture(s) then use the [ IMG ] <insert here> [ /IMG ] tags, (by writing them :p), then put the link to your picture in the middle (where it says <insert here>. Note: Do not put any spaces between then tags...

Hope that helps :)

Ty just what I was looking for.

Now ill get to show off my 5 pentagon armies of MBTs getting ready to ravage a big fat AI democracy ;)

I have 3 questions:

1. Can somebody point me to an artical or post about "terraforming" the land. When should one irragate and when should one mine, for example.

2. What can you do with money besides support your troups. I've heard you can buy things like temples and libraries, but I don't know how. Can you buy technologies?

3. I can't use the search function on this forum. Everytime I click on it, it says I'm not authorized to view the page. Can somebody help?

Thanks,
Maestro

Search has been disabled owing to server load, I guess.

You can rush a building in any city by spending money (provided you are in Republic, Monarchy or Democracy). Just rightclick on the city and say hurry production. And you can trade for techs using the money. i.e. you pay others money - a lump sum or per turn and they give you a tech.

And you can terraform with nukes ;)

In the foreign adviser screen, where it shows faces of other civilizations, on 31 civs, only 8 are there. How can you select the other ones??

Just quickly, I haven't got my manual here.. Those minor wonders, like Forbidden Palace etc, are only trigger after you do something arent they?

Shift-right-click on a leader head on F4, then select a civ from the appearing menue.
Btw, just contacting a civ might be easier by hitting shift-d (or click the 'D' next to the info box) on the main map display. (Note: don't do shift-d while a worker is active in C3C though).

Small wonders: yeah, trigger is normally mentioned in the 'pedia (and better leave the manual where it is;)).

I'm playing Russia, can I upgrade TO Cossacks, or do all UUs need to be built from scratch?

You can upgrade.

In some former version, it was not possible (for some civs only?) to upgrade from (or to?) UU, but I assume you are patched anyways.

Sweet. Thanks. I remember not being able to upgrade swordsmen to Immortals in Vanilla Civ. Right now I'm playing Conquests.

Immortals replace Swordsmen, so that upgrade shouldn't work. Also, Persia should not be allowed to build Swordsmen from scratch. If you had them with Persia, you probably got them from a warrior upgrade and that was then part of the bug I mentioned (which was fixed with some patch).
