What's your favorite tribe to use?

I like the Germans. I'm Polish & since there's no Polacks, they're the next best thing.

Almost always play Russians or Soviets, as they have good location for growthand plenty hinterland for expansion ( bit of a hangover from Civ1, methinks) They also get good city names, and it means there is one less militaristic AI out there. When you make them Communist, it has a nice feeling of historical accuracy to it.
And of course, who could resist the thought of rolling across Europe and Asia in waves of mighty

I customized my civ and replaced the babylonians with the Irish. Irish is all I ever play anymore.

I know that yellow is also easy to spot, but I don't like yellow!!!

Greece, but I wish they were green, like in civ-1, instead of orange. <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/mad.gif" border=0> I like playing the lt.blue civs, because the units look good, and the dk.blue for the same reason.

I usually play white, because they show up best on the map. Kinda boring I guess. I always customize the name though.

Americans, because I like being the winner

.(and no, I don't want to get into that again.)

Sometimes I Personalize my tribe as the Israeli's.

I thought he was smokin somethin, then I turned on CivWin and sure enough the Greeks are green the Babylonians grey then I shut it off disgusted. They ****ed up the colors in that game.
For regular tribes either the Romans or Celts

More often than not I play as the English for obvious reasons - for equally obvious reasons I don't play as they Americans, instead allying with them (as in real life, but without the propensity to follow everything that they do, such as in real life!) <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif" border=0>

Occasionally play as my own tribe the Succestrian, as I come from Sussex. I've never yet played where I have to war against the English though, which is probably a good thing, I don't think my brain could cope with wiping out my own nation!

If you come from Sussex, surely you would want to play as the South Saxons.

There is only one choise and that is the Egyptians.
With Nile (a deathmetal from south carolina that sings with ancient egyptian tounges) in my speakers and "easy to find" yellow on my minimap, I always rule the game.

The Russians! The only bad thing is they don't start on a river in the world map

. Second choice are the Romans, then the Germans.

I also like the color white. I started with white in Civ1, and since then, I thought white was the default color for the human player. I was so stupid back then.

I play whichever Civ I'm in the mood for at the time. Sometimes it's one of the pre-made Civs, sometimes it's one from my long list of customized Civs. In any case, there is no one Civ I play most often, at least not that I have noticed.

Guessed what's my favorite tribe? I'm Genghis the Great after all
smile.gif

But to be honest when I played for the first time as I didn't know anything I chosed the Zulus because one of my friends said they were the most powerful. That was of course stupid, since no tribes has "specific" advantages on others...

It did make a difference in CivI though. That's because the countries had fixed personalities - they're even printed in the CivI booklet - and taking a particular tribe yourself meant that you wouldn't have to play against that personality. It made no difference of course to your own play!

I wonder if CivII does that too?

Well, sort of. You know, when you click "Check Intelligence" button on your Foreign Advisor screen, you get a screen which says the Leader's name, his/her title, and which civilization he/she's the leader of in the first line. In the second line, it says "Militaristic Expansionist" or "Civilized Perfectionist" or "Aggresive Civilized Expansionist" and so on. I think it's twenty-seven possible combinations.

To answer the topic question, I usually play Belgarion of the Rivans. I've edited rules.txt and city.txt so both the Rivans and the Norwegians (yes, yes) may show up when I don't play them.

forever!!

I think my point, Håkon, or my question was "are these attributes random?" In CivI they're fixed for each AI Civ, in accordance with the booklet. But in CivII are they fixed for each AI Civ, or are they randomly chosen every game for each Civ? Or do Civs always get allocated the same attribute of one kind and random another?
