Well, because of a misinterpretation, our Galley is in the NW corner of the Continent.

On the one hand, we'll have to backtrack to get to the Sea Lane that was ordered in this poll.

On the other, we've got a Goodie Hut 6 Turns out. Plus a small sea lane off of Old Pompeii that seems promising...

A small discussion is here.

Because of time constraints, poll will only be open for 24 Hours.

By "Desired Route", do you mean within the Western Sea Lane? Or do you mean the Pompeii Sea Lane?

If you meant the transit to and from Pete, I'd just leave it to the DP. She got us there, she can get us back if necessary.

RM, I believe he means that the President would just reverse the route she took in getting there, back down the French coast. You're right, he should have said that, but we're trying to work on improving Instructions now.

My question has always been "Can we travel safely in a Sea tile/Lane?" If we're confined to coastal tiles, why would we risk a Settler? I say ignore the Goodie Hut (probably just barbs), return to Japanatica shores, drop the Settler, and scout your sea lane.

And I would guess that this is the "Old Pompeii" Sea Lane off the coast of Mauch Chunk

Of course there is no guarantee that either route will not peter out under the fog, and the only Civ that can travel safely on sea at the moment is Babylon. So if we choose either of these potential routes we should be aware that we are sending an unescorted Settler on a Suicide Galley.

:) Wasn't Pompeii destroyed by a Volcano in real life? I'm going to have to look that up...

Yes - it and many of the city's population were covered in ash. Obviously no one told them that they were using C3C rather than Vanilla!

"Such is Vesuvius! and these things take place in every year. But all eruptions which have happened since would be trifling, even if all summed into one, compared to what occurred at the period we refer to. . . . . . . .. "Day was turned into night, and light into darkness;-an inexpressible quantity of dust and ashes was poured out, deluging land, sea, and air, and burying two entire cities, Herculaneum and Pompeii, while the people were sitting in the theatre."— Dion Cassius , lib. lxvi.

And when the smoke cleared, it was then called the "Old Pompeii" Sea Lane. :)

Yap, Pompei was destroyed by Volcano - Etna.

I'll vote to drop settler somewhere and go to the Pompei sea lane in search for other continent. Even if we found some island or place and settle it will be probably useless.

I propose that we send our second galey (the one near Nineveh) straight to the west seas. Seems like we could discover new land following that route.

EDIT: Since there is no option to drop settler (what was i looking at :)) and abstain would 'waste' a vote I'll vote to explore east (Pompei lane).

Taking the ship seems like it would take too long. We should drop the settler and use him to refound any towns we raze (to prevent another Mauch Chunk), and then use a captured Roman city to rush a galley and use the lane.

Send that galley down the sea lane it was intended for (the southern/western/pete one)! Since neither sea lane promises assured success or failure, we might as well send it along the one closer-- which coincidentially happens to be the one it was supposed to sail in the first place.

btw.. very good pictures, SD3. There should be no confusion about what you're saying now.

I know, I am risking much by putting the Settler with the exploring party.

I am risking a lot. 2 Pop Points.

But if we find an unoccupied area of land across one of these Sea lanes... We gain a staging ground.

With no troops for Defense... yeah...

Ah well, I can always regroup every 10 turns

I voted for the Pete lane, but I would also like to have the settler dropped off in case of any more razing.

Regarding the goody hut, France or Zululand could pop it. Or they might not. I never know how the AI is going to handle goody huts.
