QuickTime 7.6

Civ3 Complete is also affected.

I haven't seen anything very authoritative. Some people don't have the problem (me :hmm: ). Some have fixed it. Some can't fix it. Aspyr say they're working it with Apple. I'm not even sure it's QT7.6 that causes it.

I've added an FAQ entry that attempts to capture this lack of clarity. If you have a more definitive list of what works and what doesn't, please post it.

I encountered the same problems everyone is reporting here - OS X 10.4.11 and QT 7.6 made Civ IV unable to start.

I archived and installed then upgraded all the way to 10.4.11 and QT 7.6 again and Civ IV works. So, if you are tired of waiting for Aspyr to fix this, I would suggest that this is the way to go. It worked for me, YMMV.

Decided to run the latest updates on both my Macs and post the results.
MacMini: OS X 10.4.11, 1.42 GHz, G4, 1GB memory
IMac: OS X 10.5.6, 2.66 GHZ, Pentium, 2GB memory
Both Civ IV 1.74 and Warlords 2.13 are working on both computers. Don't know why I haven't had a problem like a lot of people have. But all updates have been run and so everything is current as of this posting. Set up on the Mini is slightly different in that it is partitioned so the OS is on one partition and my Home directory is on another. Normal setup in the iMac. (Mini is below specifications and shouldn't run civ iv but it does.)
