Very nice work :goodjob:.

Hey, SoG, have you made those changes to the Canadian civ that we talked about? Just curious.

Hey, SoG, have you made those changes to the Canadian civ that we talked about? Just curious.

Some of them, the Mountie is still a Cavalry replacement(Have yet to find an elegant solution since there is only one Cavalry unit class in that time period), the Inuit monument(forget the exact name right now, Oo) is going to be a national wonder for Canada, replacing one of the Epics.

What other changes did you have in mind?

The inuksuk is really just a pile of flat rocks a couple feet high. They were used to give directions and such to other hunters... it was really a communication system.

In game, perhaps it could provide a free Hunting Lodge for all cities on the continent. Hunting Lodges become obsolete so I don't know how it would all work out. Left as it is, it is otherwise way too powerful. It could still be left as a world wonder, but should appear in the early part of the game.

1/ Canada Corps should be renamed Canadian Corps - Canada Corps was a foreign development agency branch of the government.

2/ Mounties, or Royal Canadian Mounted Police, co-existed with Cavalry. In game terms, they're more a para-military defensive cavalry crossed with an explorer... patrolling the wilderness and keeping the peace. I don't recall them ever attacking cannons so the +50% bonus vs. cannons doesn't make sense for them.

Perhaps they could be a cheaper Cavalry option, with 3 movement and a couple less Strength than Cavalry? They could start with City Garrison I (normally meant for Infantry units) and upgrade to either Cavalry or armoured cars.

Any thoughts?

I will implement those changes. Mounties can replace Explorers instead of Cavalry and come later than the normal explorer,

Inuksuk could be an early national wonder, with hunting maybe, that goes obsolete along with the Hunting Lodges that are placed in every city. Should this remain unique to Canada or a general use thing? What do you think?

Hmmm... let's forget about the explorer part. I guess they didn't really do much exploring. They were just mounted police.

I think the Inuksuk should be a general thing. They are more an invention of the Inuit civilization that Canada absorbed. Sure, so a national wonder that grants a free hunting lodge that goes obsolete along with the lodges? And a powerful wonder for early growth. Sounds good.

That's what I just changed Inuksuk to, have it as a Great Wonder though, its now one of the three wonders of the Prehistoric Era.

What about the Mountie? Not sure what the unit should do honestly. The police/sometimes military cavalry thing is really unique.

Perfect!

Make it a defense/sometimes offense unit playing the roles of infantry/sometimes cavalry. A defense unit with a move rate of 2 or 3 gets it where it needs to be much quicker. It could keep up with a stack of Cavalry units and stay behind in captured cities as a defender. I'm not sure how the AI would handle a unit like that.

Ok so the Mountie now has 3 movement speed, no flanking or attack bonus vs Canons, a cold climate attack bonus and City Garrison I. The UnitAI is now Attack or City Garrison, with Pillage being removed.

Sounds good. You could back the strength off a couple too, since they wouldn't really be able stand up against Cavalry.

Let's hope the AI uses them the way we hope.

Speaking of the AI do you notice the AI is more cautious with attacking your cities if its a civ and not a barbarian army?

Yes, now that you mentioned it. But they have no problem attacking other AI cities.

I wonder what the cause is?

I have played games where they have attacked and captured a city but others, which were well defended, they just ignored.

Interesting. I agree they should have. I know I defintly would have... Well, lol, if it had the potential for resources. SOG, can you pull that same screenie up in WB? That be the primary reason why, lack of potential resources.
