[GS] Railroads across the ocean

It's exactly how the developers described it working in the preview videos, isn't it? Unless I'm misremembering. Put a tunnel in one mountain, put a tunnel in any other connected mountain, instant connection between all such tunnels in the same contiguous mountain range. Substitute Incan road for railroad on a 1:1 basis

Then they ARE crazy.

Tunnels are nuts, I played a couple Inca games, and it's extremely difficult to track barbarians when they start teleporting around your lands.
Unfortunately tunnels work both ways.
Tunnels are truly Pandora’s Box. They just feel such an abuse when movement rules round down, not up.
Putting cities next to them is suicide, you cannot shoot back.
I tried to chase a barb horseman as Inca but it was a big fail with all the tunnels.

Coming into Civ 6, one of the reasons Ed Beach gave for dropping the Civ 5 engine and building a new engine from scratch was they wanted to do things with terraforming that wouldn't be possible with the Civ 5 engine.

At the time, I assumed this related to canals and tunnels, although now we can see it actually relates to ice melting and coastal tiles flooding.

The climate related tile changes seem to work well (setting aside opinions of the climate change mechanism as a whole, just the terrain aspect of it seems to work well). Canal, mountain tunnels and railroads, though, don't make use of the terrain change mechanisms. They feel like they've been slapped on because people asked for them. The tunnel mechanic in particular feels very disconnected with the rest of the transportation and movement mechanics.

"Scotty: tunnel me up!"

If you build more than one tunnel on any continuous mountain range, any unit will be able to enter any of the tunnels, and come out any of the other tunnels, no matter where in the range they are, including for combat.

Magnetunnel Superconductor Highway.

Well, it's clearly a bug... not even them would be that crazy to believe it should work like that. :crazyeye:

:lol: Gotcha! Thanks for explaining it just as you would do.

I haven't gotten to that point in my games yet. I know! I keep being fascinated with trying something new or again and again with few Civs that I haven't gotten to finish a game or have been playing in Marathon Speed (really slow I found out) that I am far behind from experiencing many things I see reported here that happen in the other eras. But I will get there soon!

As I was saying, the railroads: Here's a pic. The subway railroad goes from Laungeston to Kourdasa
