Rallying call for all interested: Colonisation of the Moon mod!

testing ill edit an update

ok im getting pink too, ill check the NIF references

OK, civ is stupid, its the reference to the shininess it cant find, at least for several of them, for instance, pasting the iron_envlight.dds in the silicon directory fixes that, nifscope is smarter than civ on finding skins, good to know, ill try and figure out what is missing and get a list of what goes where soon my bad guys

Did you see edit 2 of my last post?

good to know you found out what the problem is.
I'll edit the improvements art defines file now.

i changed the setup, now there is just a resources/luna directory with all the needed files in it, so i just change all the XML to reference /luna instead of luna_whatever

Civ4ScreenShot0004.JPG

here they all are working, in the world editor they look a little goofy for some reason but in the game they appear to be fine ill email you the folder i created, you can change your own artdefines_bonus.XML to delete the whatever in luna_whatever/resource.nif

And here I thought the moon was made of cheese. Nice looking resources Dsquared. You have kinda an esher thing going on with that blue resource in the foreground.

I don't know how far you guys are in yet but you may want to put an alpha mask on your tech icons too clean them up a little.

thanks kael, esher thing? the blocky blue resource is supposed to be water ice, made it a nice glacier blue to differentiate it from the CO2 ice in midupper right

Okay my turn for a picture.
Here is a picture of the colpeted resourses. Will post xml files shortly.

Edit: those resourses look much better than mine(yet my terrain looks better than yours '???')

hmm. do you have the art .nif saved in the right place. Check the correct paths in the art defines improvement xml file

yeah they appear fine ugh the funny thing was i didnt have them there initially and all i got was red circles but when i put them there now i get crash on custom game start

argg. I hate it when it works one one computer but does not work on some elses.
I currently dont know why else it would not work on your computer. make sure you check the reference of each art define

ok i fixed the problem, youre still referencing the old mine, i did a few NIF changes i have to go work on homework now so ill email them tomorrow

Wow, great work guys. So who has the "official" working version? :)

And those resources look awesome on that terrain. :goodjob:\

And matthewv's terrain pic with the improvements is incredible!

I don't know, I think you canged a bunch of xml files that I don't have yet. I think the last xml files I got from you were when you made so there were no errors starting the game.

Also, what changes were made to the orginal Civ4BuildingClass infos.xml file? If you go into the victory status screen you get an error which I traced bake to this file. There is also an error message that shows up when you research public liberties.

The only thing I've changed since I sent the XML file were adding two new units. They aren't a big deal. Those files I sent are still the last edition I use, at least until you and dsquared come up with the terrain ones.

Let me check the Civ4BuildingClass file when I get home. I don't remember what that one was other than adding in each new building type. If one of the Victory conditions needs an old building that would do it. We could always add it back in. I've never played long enough to research anything so I don't know about the Public Liberites. :(

   :shakehead:

Sorry about this, guys. I was away for one day and then British Telecom decided to do interesting and unedifying things at their end of the phone line :gaaargh!:

Those flags. Ahem. Yes, well. I've been experimenting with XMLs, but I can't find out what the hell it is I did with my Palmyra mod that I haven't done this time. Also the crash-on-exit bug is royally annoying because, of course, if you're fiddling about as we are then you're going to be quitting and loading rather a lot.

I'll plug in the new xmls and art and see what happens.

Although that said, the flags are only really a cosmetic graphic. I'm more than happy trying to nail this rat down, but might our/my resources be better spent doing something rather more helpful? My lack of Python skills and unreliable posting notwithstanding

I'm really impressed with all the work! I can't help but shake the feeling I'm becoming somewhat obsolete... :(

Okay, I read through what Kael had to say about religion, and I must confess I'd never thought of that.

Thinking about it, is there anything else like that we can exploit?

Oh, btw reading back over the posts I missed  I see you had some difficulty in deciding where the players started. To be honest, I made the map before we decided on the civs, so I left starting locations out. That said, looking at the names of civs' cities and comparing them with the location names should give some idea...

Anyway, good job, people. I'll return to those flags in the meantime.

BTW, notice to all lurkers: Anyone who reads this and a) knows how to prevent the game from saturating flags, and b) doesn't want to see me suffer any longer, can you PLEASE stop lurking and tell me how to fix it? Thanks :mischief:

EDIT: Lurkers, you may remain anyonymous! Problem fixed!

Oh, and one other thing: shouldn't the Solar Collector improvement be a bit more... er... noticeable? It blends in rather well with the terrain atm, that's all... maybe making it a bit more shiny and cobalt-bluish..?
