RAM Question

When I bought my computer it had 512MB DDR SDRAM already installed. If I buy another 512MB stick will it boost my system's RAM to 1.024GB of RAM (if my math is correct), or if I buy 1GB RAM will it boost my sytem's RAM to 1.512GB of RAM?

Yes.

Your best bet would be to buy 2x1gb sticks (enough to fill all you ram slots), and just junk the wimpy 512MB stick.

Unless you're buying used for real cheap, buying a single stick of 1GB can't be much of a saving over that.

well im probably going to buy a stick from staples for like $40. and later on maybe a 1GB or 2GB stick.
