well, i recently discovered this band after digging through a friend's mp3 files.

holy schnykies! where have i been all this time?!?!

these dudes rock and rock hard. my wife runs for cover though when i crank it up.

i guess the reason why i'd never heard much from them (i'd heard of them but never listened to any of their songs until recently) was b/c of the language barrier. anyway, i 'wikied' them and found out a bunch a stuff.

so, has anyone ever seen them in concert?

what does the general public in Europe think of them? i read that some of their stuff is controversial in parts of Germany and elsewhere.

any recommnedations on any particular songs?

Recommend: Tier, Die Sonne, Wo Bist Du, Spiel Mit Mir, Mein Herz Brennt, Mein Teil.

the general public has no taste :p

I quite like their songs, though I'm guessing you wouldn't like the song "Amerika" ;)

Originally, many settled them into the far-right neo-nazi camp, in their early career. this was, however, mostly undeserved and mostly due to their martial sound. Rammstein initially didn't seem to care about that, and refused to make a public statement about it, which of course furter fueled the controversy. But since Links 2-3-4 at the latest, these rumours fortunately ceased :)

Links 2-3-4 would be one of the songs I recommend, as well as Engel
"Los" rocks a bit less, but is a very nice song nevertheless

I listen to them quite a bit, and since I don't always understand German, I overlay English words.

There's one song where the back-up singers say (for one line)

"I can't eat fish and I'm mighty sad".

Of course, they don't say that, but it sounds like it.

My wife also really likes them, in fact, she's the one who purchased their album.

My brother did not realise that they are named after a US airforce base in Germany. He did not realise this until a News Report. When he found out I said see. Generally I do not go for their music but is better than wha is generally put out in the realm of the pop scene.

It's a blast to dance to. Certainly evens up the mix. When I was clubbing, they'd probably play at least one Rammstein. Usually Du Hast. Ah, at least it balanced out Closer.

heh. thanks KaeptnOvi.

and yes, i've heard the song "Amerika" before. iirc, some of the lyrics are in English so i was able to make out a bit of it. however, i'm used to the US being parodied like that so it's no big deal :p

keep the recommendations coming!

and if you've been to a show of theirs, please, let us know about it! i bet those live shows are off the friggin' hook!

You have to wait for ComradeDavo to get online again.

I've only seen a couple of DVDs - great stuff, esp. 'Mein Teil' recorded in Japan...

yeah, just wait till Davo gets here, he probably won't stop telling us how great their show there was.....bastard

i see.

i've heard Mein Teil actually. kewl song :goodjob:

they have many sick lyrics....which of course one of the reasons they're so great ;)

My twin brothers love them, and I think they were to at least one of their concerts, but I am not so sure about that. They have been to many hard rock concerts, but don't aske me for names. Wo bist Du is one of their favourite songs,.

I prefer people who sing instead of scream, shout and bark, tenjewberrymuds.

Its good music in the car ...... I have Reise, Reise in my car.

Got got to be careful not to step on the gas pedal too much .... that music makes me want to race every car on the road !
