Random-01: The Wheels Come Off

Attrition strikes hard. I'll play tomorrow if there's no word from NC before then.

Turns played. Exhausted from training. Going to bed. Look here for report tomorrow around 10 a.m.

sorry guys, it's been a crazy week for me. I will have some time during the weekend i think so if i could take a turnset after stuge that would be the best thing for me. if that is okay with you of course.

Sorry for the delay, the house had a power failure this morning. Anyway...

The gold mine has been hooked up and most of our workers are busy building a road to the west to hook up the stone. The GW fell to the Persians...

...but we could try for the pyramids, I suppose.

I finished masonry and researched pottery to get some cottages going. Towards the end I put a couple of turns into writing. Are we going for alphabet early?

The stone city (I suck at remembering city names) now has both seafood hooked up and is building a worker.

Iron city got a monument and a work boat and is working on a granary.

Gold city built barracks, an archer and is now building a granary.

Constantinopole (ah-HAH) finished the barracks, built a settler and an archer for escort and is training a worker.

So, where should the settler go? We could go for the horses, or then there's the fish/pigs/bananas to the west and the fish/crabs/grapes to the east.

My inclination is to go for the horses now, before Pacal decides to steal them.
Something to discuss.

Here be the save.

i took a quick look at the save. our economy isn't great, but there are quite a few nice city spots out there. some food heave ones in the southwest, the possible Maoi Statues city in the east (for later backfilling i guess, but I like to get some value out of the wonder). the horse city. and perhaps even further south grabbing iron clam and one more recourse can't remember which one, don't have the game open. i think it was SW of iron. that city would really block off alex, not sure if that really is needed though.

I think generating espionage will be fairly important for us in this game as it will be our only chance too bring down city defenses (except coastal ones, we should have a nice bombarding navy going later on). I would have liked an early rush in this game when there were less cultural defense, but with everyone so far away from us i guess we have to build our own cities...

I can take the turnset i missed now in the weekend if you like azaris, let me know if that is ok.

turn 1: nada

turn 2: nada

turn 3: research up to 60%, stone hooked up

turn 4: thessa: worker-->granary

turn 5: constantinople: worker--> archer

turn 6: constantinople finishes archer and i make a try for the pyramids.

turn 7: writing comes in, alex immidiately asks for open borders, as we are pretty weak military i decline, I don't want him scouting us out in this condition. I choose alphabet.

turn 8: after a long long walk antioch is founded (monument), blocking off a nice bit of land for us, we may have to have a bit of a garrisson there because of all the barb activity around.

turn 9: adrianople: granary--> library (will be changed as soon as iron gets in to get us an axeman or two)

turn 10: we meet Louis, a scout in the northwest. He asks for open borders, I agree as I assume his lands are to far away for an attack atm and he isn't a madman like shaka that would walk across an entire continent to attack us.

turn 11: alex turns jew, the same as Pacal.

turn 12: nada

turn 13: i discover that i missed to write down two turns when nothing really happened other than that nothing happened this turn either.

15 turns played despite what the summary above indicates.
This is the state of the world:

'Mids, eh? Bit risky because of Louis. Also, Darius has had Masonry for ages and is suspiciously low on the score so might be building them.

I don't know if we can sustain any more cities at the moment. We're poor and weak, which is a bad combination when Alex is your neighbor (though not as bad as unproductive and weak). A mad chop frenzy to grab the Pyramids at any cost and then head into a SE?

Roster:

azaris (on deck)
njorls
stuge
NoChildren (just played)
tycoonist (UP, I guess)

yeah, a chopping frenzy was on my mind, we are going to cottage up our capital anyways aren't we and an early SE is sooo sweet.

sometimes one picture can tell 1000 hieroglyphics:

yeehah! i used every trick in the book to get this one, i chopped a few forests, whipped an axeman for the overflow, and finally to ensure that we got it, i whipped 3 pop with 4 turns remaining.

apart from that, it was pretty dull. built a few cottages and whipped some infrastructure but that was about it. oh yeah, i also sent out some fogbusters.
