Random Events FTW

My master craftsman were able to develop some sort of new axe giving all my axeman the Shock promotion automatically. I was also tasked to build 12 swordsman before reaching the Medieval Era, however I did not have access to iron...

The AI often gets a random event that says, "The [enter civ here] people are bragging that their truffles are the best and have begun selling them." Nothing warms my heart more, though, then hearing about vermin getting into the granaries of enemy civs... :)

In rfc I was just about to invade the dutch because they were cramping Frankfurt, but on the very turn I was about the hit that little orange dutch button, a random event came up saying that they emptied thier food reserves to feed the people of frankfurt, I delayed the invasion... for now...

The stable quest gives you 3 things to choose from. 11 free horse arechers or all stabels +1 food or all mounted units get the sentry promotion
I took the +1 food (it is for all present or future stables) pretty good, stabels are not that expensive.

I had a random event where all my triremes got free combat 1, I also happen to be the Vikings :mischief:

In the same game I had a quest where I had to build 11 stables before the Renaissance era. When I completed it I got 3 options 1. 11 free horsemen! 2. free sentry for all mounted units 3. +1 food from stable.

Yes I took the 11 horsemen and upgraded them to knights :mischief:

I just finished a game with Boudica where I got some random event where all my melee's got a free drill promotion, a free CG and my pikemen got free shock upgrade, pretty damned neat as I was allready a warmonger :)

Also had a game with Ramsess where I got a free flanking upgrade for all my chariots:crazyeye:

On that note, does anyone know if Woodsman III stacks with drill or does the highest first strike take over? Same question for Guerilla III and Tactics...

I've had some crazy warlords just messing around with Boudica(By far my new favorit overpowered leader), talking 150+ xp and it seems like a waste if those upgrades dont stack ><

I just had the most awesome quest.

I had to seize control of a horse resource in Babylonian territory in 150 turns. I managed to get it, and in return i got 6 free Knight units!

Im loving this expansion pack.

Quests and random events really do make the game much better.

You got the same one CTH :D

I didn't take the +1 food because I figured it'll just go obsolate with rockety, most of my cities already had a large pop, and it was a war heavy game.

when i first played the game, i thought random events were there to screw you over but now i see that they can help you

I've had:

Plane crashes
Good Marriages
Failed Marriages
Floods
Snow Blizzards
New bread of race horses etc
Religous faith spreading
Volcanos and ash

Quests:
Naval commanders want war : 11 triremes.
Horse Whisperer : 11 Stables
Sciencey one : 11 Librarys
A random one about settling next to some holy mountain, which would reveal itself after spreading your state religion to 30% (iirc).

How do you get +1 food from horses?....are the citizens eating horse burgers?

I had a quest right after i built a Library in the capitol. It said that scholars had found some papers and needed to store them ...or something like that. my task was to build 7 libraries before any other opponent built 7. If i built the great Library as well, i would get another bonus. I did all that and had 3 options when the quest completed. I chose the last one which was a free great scientist in the city that built the great library.

I had another quest where i had to masturbate 5 times in 1 day. The reward was shame and humiliation.....gotta stop typing now...im really sleepy

I haven't played that much yet, but in my current game I got a message that the Incans had developed a new kind of stronger bow. When I checked him out, all his archers had combat I promotion. Made the axe rush a bit tougher than usual =/

Domesticate parrots in the jungle - +1 commerce...even when I cottaged the jungle. Nice, but dim.

I had a quest saying I have to build 10 swordsmen. Luckily I had Caesar and that was my plan anyway :P After I build them they all got a free promotion and I was able to conquer 2 others civs with these guys (epic,Pangea,Noble).

i have failed these two. i wonder what the rewards are

1. master blacksmith in one of my forges asks me to build 9 forges before entering the renaissance. (could this be a free ironworks?!)

2. my general tasks me to take over a copper resource in english territory in 300 turns. i think i did this in time, but there was no announcement of the result

I have had:

Marriages both good and bad and failed
A comet landing in a forest, boosting interest in out space and my spaceship production by 5%
Forestfires
Floods destroying an university and a barracks
Slaverevolts
Snow
Truffles
Animals
Miracles
Something giving me some sciencepoint towards flight
and loads of others.

I also had various quests:
Build seven libraries
Build seven Colosseum's
Build 14 religious building to find the Holy Mountain
Build seven stables

So far my favourite one was something along the lines of "The locas have found a way to harvest turtle eggs without hurting the ecosystem! +1food to one water tile" the response was "Turtles? What will they think of next?!" It made me giggle :p Probably because I just spent the night awake playing BTS!

Of course the tile wasn't in the BFC of any of my cities...I still liked it, though :p

Does a "quest" count as an event? Because I was given some quest right after I discovered Judiasm; the quest for the Holy Mountain. It said that the mountain was not on any territory I have explored yet, and that I would have to build a city next to the mountain in order for some sort of miracle to happen. It also said that I had to complete the quest by 1850 or I would fail, and that if I built 22 or 27 religious buildings in one of my cities, it could bring a revelation from God as to where the mountain was.

I failed the mission, however.

I had that one as well, i had to find the mountain before it came under the culture of a rival. After building 20 of the needed 22 buildings, it failed.

Turns out the mountain was on another continent (i couldnt sail on ocean tiles yet) and between 3 other civs, never had a chance.

This event happened to me during a war last night while my forces were overstretched.

I lost a few newly conquered cities which only had 1 defender each :crazyeye:
