Random Rants X: Mraarrrrrrr!!!!!!

But they are all like 40,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
pages long. Obviously that is exaggerating, but you understand.

The song You, Me, and the Bourgeoisie, from the iPhone commercial, seemed like an odd title and looking into it I saw it did seem to take bring forward some issues and criticized the first world, as in we have all this stuff and its sad "plastic bottles... sweatshop labor" and that's all well and good, but then who's bright idea was it to use it in an iPhone commercial, and why would the band then sell it to them? Way to sell out before you're known.

and was it for the iPhone or the iTouch? . .. .. .. . it, they look the same, iDon't care.

My brother has officially become insane, I think. If you hear any reports of a 12-year-old brutally stabbing people in a suburb of Seattle, and I'm not here, you'll kow it's him.

My sister is the same way. Before she went on meds she would threaten me with knives.

My impulse told me it was an inside joke for NESers, but apparently I was off by a million miles!

Yeah, I believe that to be a reference to Jono's obsession with the "molten gold" thing in Good Wish/Bad Wish.

Explain... :p

Well, I was on holiday to celebrate the finishing of high school, and on the third day I was away, a bunch of people I knew but don't like decided to show up at the house til the 6th day. As a result, half of the week was spoilt, and because it was surrounded by 4 of the best days the 4 bad days were significantly worse (due to the missed potential)

It happens quite often, I think. Take for example the Rage Against the Machine song "No Shelter." It criticizes the entertainment and news industry, yet it gets included on that (relatively) new Godzilla movie which came out a decade ago. And it even has the line "Godzilla pure mutherf@#kin filler/ get your eyes off the real killer." Whether Rage sold out or were just playing the movie producers as fools, I dont know.

Some moron has smashed the window on my dad's van. They didn't take anything or even attempt to steal the thing... they just smashed it for the hell of it. WHY!? :ack:

Well, that don't matter. But I really don't like to be mistaken for a NESer.

We NESers DO have inside jokes. This ain't a problem, just be more active in the NES forum (While We Wait is like the OT for NESers) ;)

Ooh, yeah, I rant about this! NES is allowed to have an Off-Topic thread but no other subforum is, why is this? Also, NESers are allowed to get away with flaming each other in said thread! Why is this?

(cue mass OT rush to the While We Wait thread)

I wanted to pull a "made you post". Is that so wrong? :(

thing is, its a general thread for discussing NESing related issues. (mostly things that come up in threads that are OT but still important are taken there, as an example) Note that as we have modern (present-day NESes), modern day politics can be a NESing issue. However, it gets moderated. and lots of people get warned etc for flaming. trust me, it is not gotten away with.

That's true, I think the producers heard "godzilla' and figured the song had to be on their album. That's assuming the song was made beforehand. But he message of the band, and that song in particular, has nothing to do with the film, so either Rage sold out in a really ironic way or were trying to get a message across somehow. IDK, they did it with the Matrix to, but that movie at least had a more to do with that thinking.
But back to my rant about that song in the iWhatever commercial: Grr.
How do businesses go about choosing songs for advertising, that's what I've got to find out.

Well the song came out at about the same time as the movie, so I guess the film producers thought "hey, its what the kids are listening to now, and it mentions our movie, lets use it"

As far as the Matrix, "Wake Up" at least had a similar message urging people dont just believe everything that you are presented with. Which at least sugests a little bit more thought was given.

As for Apple, in thier Mac vs. PC ads they are hip and cool while PC is boring and nerdy. I suspect they used that particular song for the same reasons, although I dont really know anything about that song, nor have I ever heard it outside an iPod commerical.

I'm ready to beat my computer with something heavy and blunt.

I'm so tired of stupid crashes. All I wanted to do was check my Military Adviser so I could see my military broken down by unit type. What a time to crash, too; England built the UN a few turns ago, and even though I'm over the cultural number needed for a Culture Win, I have slightly less twice my next rival, England, has culture, so I've been in a race to build as many cultural buildings as I can...and so have they. The upside is that my empire is HUGE; I have nearly 50% of world population, and 10% of world area. Screw Cape Town to Cairo, my empire is Cape Town to Calcutta.
