My company laid off six employees today. They were called into the office and told they were no longer needed. They were then escorted out of the building. Two had worked there for more than 25 years and were not even allowed to say goodbye to their fellow workers.

This kind of thing makes me very angry. One was a friend of mine.

Sad rant is over.

I have a rant: There is absolutely no reason to close threads at 1000 posts. There are plenty of other threads in other forums on this Forum that have over 1000 posts.

Another rant: This Forum is overmoderated.

Just strange that they had to be escorted out. Fired and already a trespasser?

The assistant manager picked up their property while they waited in the personel office.

At least they didn't call the security guard and have him escort them out.

And just to make sure there would be no trouble with them coming back, the key code was changed after they left. They can no longer enter the building.

Also they were "wanded" when they left. Just to make sure they weren't stealing anything.

My friend was a 5 ft 4 in, 110 lb, 67 year old man.

It's sad how companies treat their employees.

I hate how if you type a post in all caps, it just leaves the first letter of each word capitalized, but if you leave one letter lower-case, it stays all caps, and you can go back and edit it . . .

Somebody gave me a ride today and dropped me off by a bus stop where a bunch of Central American day laborers were standing. As I was getting out of the car, I said kidding around 'Stick around, maybe you'll get another fare.' His jackass response, at the top of his lungs was, 'Yeah, tell those wetbacks to hop in!'. The worst part of it is that he said it in Spanish, so they understood. Then I had to wade through them

Curse the backwards educational system and it's narrow minded view of "talented". Curse the FCAT. Curse idiotic school boards who would like little more than to fatten their wallets at the expense of the kids, and who will fire a good man just in case he gives them bad PR.

I'd say the system needs a major overhaul, but it's intrinsically flawed. There's nothing that can be done save to destroy it and start over...which will never happen in a country that's too lazy to convert to the metric system (not that I mind the Imperial system).

What America fails to realize is that our school system was roughly based upon the schools of Prussia. Prussia! The military state! These schools were designed to make good citizens and soldiers, not to help people learn and achieve and succeed. They teach people how to be average, they don't teach them how to live the American dream.

What's average nylan? Enough to get by... well, most of the time. The rest if for your parents and yourself to teach you. The school is not the end-all be-all developer of your life.
