An American repeatedly got cross with me for calling football football. It's not soccer in my country, dammit. Maybe in the US, but not here. So we had a nice little argument, he continually corected me, I continually corrected him, and it ended when some guy in the street took my side (at the cost of the guy abusing America as a whole).

Being an American who has lived overseas I always find this funny. Of course, the only real football is Australian football (and I don't mean rugby).

My kids are used to calling both sports football, but my 5-yr old had the best question recently that I can't remember the exact quote, but it had something to do with actually using your foot for one type of football, while using your hands for the other type of football.

Pedantry is the last resort of the brainless. If he wants to argue that much simply point out that we invented football long before the US existed, we called it football and when in England that's what it is, if it makes it easier in the US call it English football.

People who when you've made a good point refuse to reply but pull apart your grammar, even though they understood it completely and keep saying 'but I'm just being accurate' even though they lost any rights to having a case when they said those unholy precursors to banality 'well actually I think you mean' or such like; can't stand it it's boring and so beside the point.

How silly. If you're in the US, refer to American football as just football and refer to football as soccer. If you are anywhere else in the world, refer to American football as American football and refer to football as football. That's not hard, is it?

I'm not sure on the circumstances, if it is just a disagreement about football for the sake of it then it's pointless, if it was a misunderstanding, fine, but otherwise really why even bother to make the point, we all know the difference between games, if we know what someone means were just being pedantic, to me if your going to argue about what's football and "football" it shows you have issues about your game and someone elses. Lifes to short for such petty squabbles to matter, call it what you will, it aint that bloody important that you have to get all of kilter about it and have to spend five pointless minutes of your time discussing semantics. If an American comes here and calls my sport soccer: I'm not going to say in England we call it football, that's just a waste of my time.

I hate Bess and have found no easy way around it. I am a good kid and only want to get on CFC during school, not look at porn sites or anything, and it pisses me off that our school has enough money for high tech cameras/surveilance systems, brand new worthless computers for the lunch ladies which slows down lunch lines tremendously more than before, Bess- the school computers' censor program, and enough money to have "Leadership" classes and teachers, but NOT ENOUGH money for a school that can hold all the people in our district w/out being overcrowded, to pay for teachers to teach more AP classes, to re-do/fix our sports fields which have a very noticeable incline on them, rocks, hardly any grass, and ankle-breaker holes. Oh, and we also have a brand new touch-the-screen learn about the harmful affects of tobacco high tech computer thing in our cafeteria which receives a daily crowd of zero people. Im happy our school worries about the important things.

Haha I've already tried it, and it worked for a day, then it was blocked. I tried a lot of other proxies and they don't work either now. I hate Bess even more.

I dont remember how they do things in Maryland, but in Ohio, building improvements come from a different type of state money. Often, around here, schools build giant new buildings with huge astroturf football fields...and then they cannot afford to run them, because the state won't give them that special funding, and their tax base isnt big enough.

So I quit smoking 4 weeks ago after oral surgary. Smoking addiction is more then just a chemical thing it is also a habit that causes an oral fixation. Now when ever I have a craving I eat. What do smokers do after they eat? They smoke So I tend to eat more and more. Sometimes I eat even when I'm stuffed. I tried hard candies but I don't realy like them to begin with. I can't exactly chew gum so I end up eating what ever I can make in 10 minuets or less. When I'm out this can get expensive. On the up side I did lose over 20 pounds after the surgary and need to gain it all back pluss I can afford to go another 10 - 15 over that. Oh and I've been extra grumpy too so that may show in my posts I know its strained my real life relations. I'd like to choke on a bowl right now to relax but I can't smoke ganj either. Not for some great moral reason but 'cause I don't have any and don't have a source. YAY sobriety !!!!!
