Rare game messages

I have seen two weird game messages: First was "Riot in Uruk!", second "Corruption in Paris!". In both cases this happened in enemy cities, but I have received these messages. What exactly do they mean? Has anybody seen them before?

These are related to some very rare special events that happen to cities in prolonged Disorder in Civ I. If conditions are exactly right you might even see an early example of culture flipping in some cases.

 

What are these events? I thought that disorder city just doesn't produce production and trade... What are exact effects of these events?

 

On rare occasions, a city can peacefully flip to another civilization. I think I saw it once, with one AI city going over to a much more prosperous AI - the text was something like "the people of city X go over to civilization Y" or something like that... I clicked away too fast.
