Rat27 - AWM OBC as Persia

Well the idiots at the repair shop found something else wrong after ordering the first part so now I have to wait for the second. Elear or el_filet, why don't one of you play as I am not likely to get the computer until Monday. I wish they had done a more complete check and not stopped at the first issue.

So Elear or el_filet up - whoever can play first.

i got it, but certainly won't play before this evening. good chance it's sunday until i get to it. if somebody wants to play before that, go ahead.

Wow!!!

WTG. that was quick.

1 tile islands are truly the bane of AW games, since you can't make peace, especially if you aren't going for Domination. :goodjob: Well done, everyone! With our rather ugly starting location and our rule-set, it did not look promising.

domination seemed appropriate for the variant. the land bridge made it a lot easier then expected. the cav armies went through the rifles and the smaller army positioned for the islands accelerated it further.

already plans for a follow-up? i'd like to try a relaxed 5CC.

5CC is definitely a challenge and mixed with AW makes an even greater challenge. I enjoyed our outing in Hawk-01, even though it wasn't AW, it was a conquest game. It was also relaxed, which allowed me to capture 7 more cities to allow 3 armies before disbanding the cities at the end of the turn. That ranks among my greatest civ achievements. So what tribe would you want to play as? Strong, weak, or average? Pangaea or continents? I suppose it's time to begin planning Rat28. I think we'll need a new member or two to make a good roster. Maybe also time to drum up more interest.

nice and fast finish in the end, great work from the whole team :goodjob:

I think this sort of game should be played with culture flips disabled, it's quite annoying to see a city flip 4 times within 2 sets.

As for another game, I am not decided what to play next. I won't be around next week, so any game would start a after that. Maybe we can discuss what to play next until then.

Excellent game all. I would like to play the previous variant again at Emporer at some point, but it doesn't have to be the next one. 5CC AWM could work out as well. Just make sure Barbarians are correctly sentient or none; tracking down a barb every turn is a pain in the neck.

No barbs is fine with me, and no culture-flips...even better. Tall man kept flipping, and that was annoying as hell! Can we be a good tribe again? I like being Iroquois. Or are we due for a so-so tribe again? As far as type of game, how about a 5BC AWE? That sounds adequately challenging, but not crushingly difficult. 5CC is fine also, but can be tougher as AW. 5BC AWE on a pangaea as the Iroquois...yummy! Or 5CC AWM continents as India or (any other 2nd tier or 3rd tier civ) should be challenging.

I don't mind either 5CC or the same game on emperor without barbs and no flipping. As I mentioned, I am not able to play next week. Would start the game after that.

Excellent finish. :)

I'm sorry that I sort of dropped out near the end, and thus won't be participating in the next Rat game. I may return to the Rat series when things are better for me, but annually I find little time to participate in Civ3 during the spring.

As for now, I have a duty to my original SG team that I started so long ago.

Lets do another 1BC at Emperor. Iroquois?

i'd lilke to play a 5cc sometimes, but 1bc on emperor seems to be the logical choice for a continuation of this series. therat seems to need a bit longer then expected, hope except for elear we're all ready for the next one.

was busy during the week as I only came back on sunday night last weekend...now I can think about and start this game.

Seems we somewhat agree on OBC (one built city) on emperor? Which Civ should we take?
Continents or pangaea?

Iroquois. Pangaea. 0bc. My vote.

Don't have a strong civ preference. (random? :D)

obc is good. Not sure if we should try pangea right away or do continents first and then try pangea. The start is the hardest for obc and pangea makes it harder with more contacts. We may want to work up to Pangea if ppl are willing for more than one possible game.

Hmm, opposing wishes here....

Civ: Iro or random
Landmass: pangaea or continents

Maybe el_filet can give his preference?

I'm okay with whatever we do, I just rarely get to play with the MW. Also, I feel 1BC Emperor requires a strong civ with a quality UU. Pangaea might be too hard, so I'm fine with Continents. If we do Pangaea, no bad random civ will do it. If continents, we could probably handle random. So those are my reasons, but I can go with whatever the choice is. By the way, do you think Mumpulus might be interested in joining us? He seems to be pretty good at AW.
