Ray's small contribution of graphics to Modding Community [OBSOLETE]

Hi guys,

I sat down today and drew a few more new Buttons and Yield Icons.
(Once every couple of days I still mod one or two hours for relaxation if I am not too wasted from work.)

So here is a package that might be useful for other modders as well.
(That is if you also like to add more Ressources, Yields, Goods, ...)

Remarks for explanation:

The ones that have a "frame" are actually also used as Bonus Ressources in my private mod.
(So if you want to have the 3D Bonus Ressources as well, let me know.)

The ones that do not have a "frame" are just refined Goods produced in Buildings.
(They do not have any 3D Bonus Ressource Graphics.)



Otherwise:

If you have special requests for graphical stuff, let me know.
I might create it for you guys if it is not too difficult or if I would like to use it myself as well.

Before you ask, this is not Brocolli ... :nono:
(And no, I also have no intention to create a "Brocolli Yield".)



That Yield is supposed to be "Linen Fibres" - a new raw Yield from Plots.
(I use it for Linen Sails in my mod. Hemp is now only used for Hemp Ropes.)

Thought I show it to you, because it really looks a bit funny. :)

That is how it looks originally when linen is harvested from a flax field.
(I tried to use this to create the Yield Icon I showed above.)

I cleaned up the pacakge for Bonus Ressources, Yields and Goods a bit.
So here is some graphical stuff any modder wanting to add new Goods may find useful.

The 2 pacakges contain Icons, Buttons, 3D Bonus Ressources, Templates, ...
Thus it should be all that a modder with a bit of graphical understanding needs to add these to his mod.

Have fun playing with it. :)

Comment for modders:

Bonus Ressources Chicken, Pigs, Peanuts, Rice, ... are all already implemented in "Plains", so you can ideally get it from there.
(The branch I used for sharing my stuff before retiring from public modding.)
These graphics are just the "addon packages" that may be used to create new Yields / Goods on top.

Comment for Players:

Just downloading it and putting it into your mod would not do anything.
It is basically just graphics that another modder might use - no gameplay content yet.

In the list are several files that show an animal face. e.g. three is Yerba_Button with an icon of a plant but Yerba_Icon with an animals face.
What is that for?

Explaining the "animal face":
The "animal face" is just the GIMP icon which is normally displayed for any file that your operation system wants to open with GIMP. (see that it says "GIMP 2.10.20")
GIMP is my personal default tool for editing TGA icon files and also one of the most common tools for graphical modding in Civ4Col.

About the files with the "animal face":
Those are TGA files that contain the small 16x16 pixel icons that you a graphical modder needs to put into the "GameFonts" for the tiny "Bonus Ressource Icons" that display at "Mouse-Over" a Bonus Ressource.
To put these 21x20 (and 16x6) pixel icons into the GameFont I heavily suggest to use GameFontEditor - because everything else is a nightmare that too easily causes glitches.

Comments on graphical modding in Civ4Col:
Graphical modding in Civ4Col requires a bit of knowledge itself. It is in itself just as challenging as programming if you want to create stuff from scratch.
You need to undestand how to work with different graphical tools like DXTBmp, GIMP, NIFScope, GameFontEditor, ... and you also need to understand certain file formats and encodings for games like TGA, DDS, NIF, KFM ...

Summary:
All of this has been created for a beginner modder that either already knows basics of modding for Civ4BTS / Civ4Col or wants to learn modding Yields / Goods / Bonus Ressources.
It will still take time to figure out all the details how to do it - but that is what a modding community is meant for: Learning how to do mod.

Remark:
I attached "Templates" for beginner modders so they automatically know which file formats they should use.
They are "pre-edited" to reduce the amount of effort and errors a beginner modder could have.
