RB29a - Cultural Extermination

Save is attached.

Are you done with your turn? I see no report.

Is this a request to see if someone can play the IT?

I am not sure why the game is posted here.

Sorry, should have been more clear, this is a save right before the crash; it appears on the inter-turn. I was hoping somebody might be able to tell me what's wrong. If you or Sullla can get the thing to run to 1998, I'll post a report and leave it at that.

lurker's comment:

I just tried your save - same problem here. :(

edit:
There are no such problems with LKendter's save from 1990. I played ten turns (1990 - 2000) and everything worked as expected. (I even flipped Paris! )

The game crashed for me also after hitting end of turn.

Yeah, I can't get your save to work either, dathon. Do you have the game's autosaves on hand? I'd suggest backing up a couple of turns (say, 1995) and going from there. If you absolutely can't get things to work, you can either back up to LK's save from 1990, or pass the whole thing on to me. I'll wait for your decision before playing anything.

Oh thanks a lot! Way to use up all our good luck!

Ok, I'll try loading from previous saves. I have a hard save from 1996 (got paranoid after the earlier crash). But as a teaser, I wouldn't say all of our luck got used up... :mischief:

As I said, all of our luck wasn't used up  One more city, and we'll have scored a cultural extermination :nuke:

The Mongols are woefully behind us in tech, and rather than wait until their cities hit 50%, I went ahead and declared war. That should keep them from upgrading their army. They took Kyoto back, only to have this happen:

BTW, that GP born in St. Pete? Yeah, he's a prophet :crazyeye:

Now, as for the save game issue. The closest save I had was a hard save at the end of turn 1996. So I went back, hit next turn, and this happened:

That did NOT happen before. We declined. In 1997, instead of moving our battleship in Chicago out to confront Julius' destroyers, I kept it in the dock. Interturn passed without incident. The crash seemed to happen when a Roman sub attacked the destroyer before, and I seem to remember some sub activity during the first crash in 1994. No more subs attacked during my turnset, and there were no more crashes. I've noticed that I can "see" sub movements, in that during Rome's movement phase, the screen will zoom to an empty patch of water, and move back and forth like it's tracking a boat. Not sure what's going on here. I have hard saves from 1998 and 1999 if something happens.

Other than that, just cruising. The only site even close to becoming available is the pressure point on Cologne.

(0) 2000AD I see we now have gunships! Every city where we're waiting for flips is eerily empty, heh. Just for those of you reading along, we're waiting for flips right now at:

Tours
Cumae
Setia
Kyoto

Oh, and check out our newest city name - Madrid! Yes, we've used up ALL the Russian city names and now are grabbing some of the ones from the other civs. Haven't seen that since Sirian's massive succession game in RB20 Miller Time. :crazyeye:

Our military rating is so much ridiculously higher than anyone else, I'm going to start assigning cities to wealth, just to speed things up. LK can undo this on his turns if he feels the need for more military.

(4) 2004AD We get a revolt in Tours! :D

No way that Napoleon survives to see the end of this game. Otherwise, things pretty quiet. Killing a couple of units each turn from Rome, having fun bombing out some tile improvements with our bombers. I DID make sure to bomb out Rome's only oil well, however.

Also note that we are at war with every other civ on the planet. :hammer:

(5) 2005AD Rostov hits Legendary culture:

Meaningless, perhaps, but a nice salute to an old friend. :goodjob:

(9) 2009AD Kyoto joins the winning team:

That removes one of the blights on our map. Only Osaka and Tokyo remain of the former Japanese Empire, both in Mongolian hands today. Incidentally, we managed to flip 4 of the 6 AI capitals; other two are definitely not going to happen. Pretty good though, right?

I get a crash at the end of this turn as well; it must have something to do with a sub. I'm able to reload from the 2009 save, move our ships differently, and avoid a crash. Weird.

That was basically it; slow and steady progress as usual. Still waiting on France to disappear, but at least we're halfway there now. In terms of Domination, we have 71.6% of the world's land area.

Just for fun, here's a shot of our religions screen:

We've definitely gotten our worth out of missionaries in this game.

Cosmichail hasn't appeared in quite some time, so he's on a permanent skip until we hear otherwise. Only 40 more turns to go, so the three of us shouldn't have too much of a problem tidying things up. Good luck! (especially at Tours)

Got it for tomorrow night.

Rule:
We can't ever enter enemy territory!

Well, one could argue, "Open Skies" and everything, but it seems this is not really in the spirit of the game if it is not a contested city you are bombing?

^^^

That's why I did not use bombers to hit tiles on my turn. They only hit border cities, units in them, or Roman ships in our territory. Probably not a big deal anymore, though, as Cathy now has the entire world under the point of her stiletto heel... ;)

I don't think I have ever reported a turn set before in the two thousand range before.

With being a war with the world, the diplomatic situation is easy to deal with. ;)
(IT) After a short debate, I pick mass media as our next tech.
How many games have you played running 0% science where you can get a modern age tech in 6 turns?

2011 AD
(IT)

2012 AD
This a brand new captured city? Check out the absurd initial culture.

2014 AD
(IT)

Down goes Nappy! :hammer: At least we got one kill by culture.

Wow, I'm up again??? Um, yeah. Should be able to get to it tomorrow.

dathon

LK, I love those pictures! :goodjob:

The good news is, no crashes on my turnset. The bad news, no revolts or flips.

Founded 2 cities in German territory, London on the Cologne pressure point, and Beijing on the Dusseldorf point. Spent most of the turn bombing, killing th odd unit, and spreading religion to our borders. Left some missionaries on Goto to make Sullla's life a little easier, and Washington has Islamic missionaries in the queue.

There's a transport circling Rome (w/ escort), and a settler/garrison in Staraya Russia for the Island that just opened up W of Astrakhan. With no oil, Julius is down to his last few military ships, so shouldn't be a problem.

Tokyo and Beshbalik are now below 50%, and Osaka should be there shortly. Seita stubbornly refuses to flip. Those are probably our only prospects for more land at this point.
