RBC - 14D Conquistadores!

Got it. <The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters.>

I'm not going to be able to play any time soon; my teachers like to bombard me with work in the last few weeks of school. I'll be able to play on Tuesday at the earliest, so skip me if need be.

Merepatra or Hotrod - Grab it with a "Got it" message if you want to go ahead and play. Otherwise we'll wait a few days for Cuivienen.

1500 (Turn 11)
Change production in Cagliari to a worker which will finish this turn as I think we need the extra shields there that mining the hill will give. We can send him to the New World later.
The Conquistador between the Maya and Aztec lands spots an unescorted Aztec settler on a mountain. Capturing the settler would give us a couple of slave workers for Panama and would considerably slow down the Aztecs growth. I decide to do it and we start our first New World war. From the mountain top where he stops he can see a Jag Warrior just below him.
I then decide to not return the other MI on the ship in the Caribbean to Europe but to keep him around for the war with the Aztecs and sail them towards Teotihuacan.

1501 (Turn 12)

The Conquistador attacks the Aztec Jag and wins, starting a Golden Age for Spain. The MI attacks the spearman in Teotihuacan and takes the city, there is 1 injured (presumably by barbs) Jag and a worker next to the city. I send that caravel now empty back to Europe.

We sell Communications with the Inca and Maya to the rest of the European civs except for Netherlands who has no money. We now have 565 gold and are researching Printing Press in 8 turns losing 31 a turn. I spend 112 gold to rush another MI in Seville.

1502 (Turn 13)

The Conquistador kills the Jag near Teotihuacan and the MI captures the worker.

We now have 5 MI’s in Seville and I decide to attack Lisbon this turn. We declare war then launch an amphibious attack and take Lisbon with 3 MI’s. The 2nd ship then sails to Oporto and it too falls to us.

1503 (Turn 14)

Lisbon and Oporto are both rebelling, I set them each to build a Temple.

An Aztec worker appears to the north of Teotihuacan, I’m not sure what he was doing there but after capturing him the Conquestador spots yet another Aztec worker further northeast.

I change Panama from building an Explorer to a Pikeman, as I feel the Explorer School will give us more than enough Explorers eventually.

1504 (Turn 15)

Portugal attacks the Canary Islands with a MI but it holds.

I load 2 MI’s and an Explorer in a caravel and send it towards Teotihuacan.

1505 (Turn 16)

The Conquistador heads towards Tenochtitlan and captures yet another worker.

1506 (Turn 17)

Dias’ Voyage produces a Colonist. I decide to send it, along with a Pikeman and MI to settle east of Panama where there is iron and a cow.

Canary Islands complete building their Pikeman and I start building a harbour there with the thought that the 2nd wine could come in handy later to sell to/bribe The Netherlands or England.

1507 (Turn 18)

Conquistador kills an archer sent out from Tenochtitlan.

Portugal is now willing to discuss peace with us. They agree to pay us 22 gold (their entire treasury), World map and 24 gpt for peace. We agree as I think its more important now to press our war with the Aztecs while also leaving enough troops in Europe to protect us from our other European neighbours.

1508 (Turn 19)

We finish researching Printing Press and start researching Banking in 12 turns.

An Aztec Jag appears to the north of Teotihuacan and the Conquistador again proves how handy is speed is as he rushes to the other side of the city and kills him.

The caravel with the 2 MI’s arrives at Tenochtitlan but since it is not on the sea they have to spend a couple of turns walking to the city.

1509 (Turn 20)

Another archer is sent out from Tenochtitlan and is again killed by the Conquistador. He is injured though so won’t be helping the 2 MI’s when they attack the city next turn.

Both Lisbon and Oporto finish their temples. I set Lisbon to build a Colonist and Oporto a Pikeman.

The caravel carrying the colonist arrives at its destination and disembarks onto the iron where I intended to build the city. The MI attacks from the ship a barbarian camp next to that killing one barbarian of two.

End of turn another Explorer is produced by Navigation School.

Notes for next player

Good luck with the war with the Aztecs, I’m hoping that they don’t have much defence and that the 2 MI’s will be able to finish them off. Then we might want to turn our attention to the Mayans who have 3 cities between our New World cities.
We will have 1 Colonist in 3 turns from Lisbon and another in 6 turns from Dias’ Voyage. We need to decide where we will send them.

Wow, great turns Mere! The Portuguese have been eliminated from Iberia and the Aztecs are hurting!

Why not leave the Mayans alone since we have them bottled up? We can deal with them 3rd. I suggest going after the Iroquois or Inca next instead. If we save one of them until later, they will probably be much larger.

I wasn't planning on starting our Golden Age yet. Initially I had thought that we'd want to hold off until we had more cities up and producing. However, with the special goal of knocking out American civs, I think perhaps this IS a good time for a Golden Age. Get the maximum production now while we're trying to squash civs before they can get large.

Watch out for the colonists from Lisbon and Oporto. That is a Portuguese citizen, so the city founded might have happiness problems.

ROSTER:
1. Cuivienen is up next
2. HotRod (on deck)
3. Gobi
4. Merepatra (just played)

Don't be sorry Cuivienen, I had a lot of fun while you were busy ;)

Good luck with your exams, they should be your first priority. the mother in me couldn't resist telling you that ;)

I saw Cuivienen post in another thread that he should be caught up and ready to play these games now. Is that true, Cuivienen?

Thanks, HotRod. Take it even sooner if it is a good time for you.

Hotrod? You out there? Give us an update, please.

All of the Spanish players kinda fell off the grid...playing this conquest as part of a team really made it a lot more fun, I hope you guys continue with the game.

If you need another player, I would like to join in.

Sorry for the awful delay. You'll have a complete report tomorrow if all goes well. Completely forgot I had this game to play and went to 1.22 for another game and back to 1.15 and didn't have a chance to finish these turns. Will do as first priority :(

1510 AD (0): Very interesting times! The Aztecs are about dead but is 2 MDI enough to take a capital. I think I will wait for some reinforcements or at least until the lone MDI arrives from the south and the conquistador heals. Kill a barb with an amphibous MDI and found Santo Domingo on the iron. With Banking already known by 2 civs I decide to buy it from the Dutch for 53 gpt, 240 gold and WM. We get WM and Banking. rather then waiting the 18 turns to research ourselves. Trade and sell maps recouping some money spent. Colonization is started but due in 32 turns.

1511 AD (1): Granada builds a worker starts a colonist. Load up and move a caravel with 2 MDI and an explore. The second caravel will wait for 2 new colonists. A caravel is heading home too. Net some more gold from Map sales.

1512 AD (2): Decide to take a shot at the Aztec Capital and barely kill 2 spears but fail to take the last archer with my wounded conquistador. will just have to wait for the MDI to arrive.

1513 AD (3): Cagliari builds a pike starts a colonist. Madrid builds a conquistador starts a bank. Oporto a pike and starts a market. Unhappily decide to retreat our wounded MDI from the Aztec capital. New recruits will be there in 3 turns or so.

1514 AD (4): Lose a 3/4 MDI to an archer. Take out 2 Indian boats in defence. Lisbon builds colonist starts barracks. Reinforcements are on the way. Another boat with a colonist, Knight and MDI is heading out. More units are waiting for other boats to be completed. Magnetism is out but no one will part with it.

1515 AD (5): More ship movement. Drop a lone MDI outside of the Aztec capital.

1516 AD (6): Will finally have enough units to try and take the capital. Still no Mag trades. colonization is due in 22 turns.

1517 AD (7): Seville builds a caravel starts a bank. Load up a colonist a pike and a conquistador. Will Land a party on a Cuba not really sure what the best location for the New word cities should be. Finally Tenochtitlan is ours and the Aztecs are destroyed.

1518 aD (8): Granada builds a MDI starts much needed cath. Panama builds a pike starts on walls. 2 empty ships are heading home.

1519 AD (9): Barcelona buildsa caravel starts a bank. Not much else to speak of. A few map trades.

1520 AD (10): We now have 2 landing parties to claim Cuba as our own. We need to gather enought vet troups to take it to the mayas before the try to expand through us in the north. I think we will have a nice core in the new world once the Maya have been wiped out.

Glad you got turns in hotrod. One New World civ down, two to go!

We'll see if Cuivienen checks in within 48 hours. If not, I'll take the next move.

OK, got the file. Going to play later this evening.

HELP! The file attached to HotRod's last post is only coming down as a 1KB file when I download it! What am I doing wrong? Can anyone else grab it successfully???
