Actually, the Heavy Cav were useful - we'd never have gotten to the Celtic cities in Spain otherwise. OTOH, we might not have needed those in a hurry if we'd dispatched the E-Romans in the first place
. It might have been better to nix science after MT came in though and buy the alliances at that point, but I do think we were entitled to expect somewhat better results from the Visigoths and Sassnids fighting the E-Romans than in fact materialized.
The logistics of getting our troops to the E-Romans would have been a nightmare anyway though - even the move-2 army got to the closest city only by turn 10 what with all the other tribes' units clogging up the roads.
Be that as it may though, it's been a pleasure playing in this team.
