RBC12E - Fall of Rome Franks (Deity)

Actually, the Heavy Cav were useful - we'd never have gotten to the Celtic cities in Spain otherwise. OTOH, we might not have needed those in a hurry if we'd dispatched the E-Romans in the first place :crazyeye:. It might have been better to nix science after MT came in though and buy the alliances at that point, but I do think we were entitled to expect somewhat better results from the Visigoths and Sassnids fighting the E-Romans than in fact materialized.

The logistics of getting our troops to the E-Romans would have been a nightmare anyway though - even the move-2 army got to the closest city only by turn 10 what with all the other tribes' units clogging up the roads.

Be that as it may though, it's been a pleasure playing in this team.

No shame Hotrod, no shame!! :hammer:

T'was an excellent try, and they were but two small towns away from being crushed and eliminated from the planet. They won on a... technicality! :D

(I do wonder... did you guys consider a very early assault on the A-S, both to give you room to expand a bit and to get some decent VP's off the bat? I've not looked at that with any depth, but it certainly did come to mind)

Thanks Jack for finishing this; sounds like you put up a good fight in the end.

Charis, yes we had discussed attacking the A-S early on, but had decided that we had not enough time for that before Rome would win and thus attacked Western Rome first. I'm not sure why we no longer had this feeling of urgency after Western Rome had fallen, though - we really should have pressed on to Eastern Rome next.
