RBD13 SG - Cretan Army Variant

Executive summary:

10 Turns
~300 Workers - only 34 of which are native.
150+ cities
2 Settlers
16 Swords
5 Muskets
3 Rifles
16 Cav
126 Infantry, and we have a bunch of cities without any protection at all
6 Cannon
46 Artillary
13 Naval units
267 Total units - this total does not include slave labor
476 Possible units - I van remember if we get two or three free per city in Monarcy

We have a one tech lead over the Indians and Japaneese. 2-3 over the rest.

Battle Field Medicine is due in 12 turns.
Refining is due in 2 turns.
+488 gpt income.
Treasury ~1000.

I spent most of the time putting in Hospitals and Factories in all of the core cities. Rushed a lot of them.

I razed 14 Chineese cities (including one of ours that flipped to them and became impure). I settled 6 more cities, mainly to extend our borders and keep them away from our workers. All the improvements are done on the west end of the island. We are running out of terrian to improve that isn't too close to the Chineese border. I considered melding our 34 native workers into the core cities once they had a hospital but left this as a decision for the next guy. That would still leave us with over 250 workers.

Germany was kept busy by everyone else. I made sure that everyone was at war with both Germany and China the whole time. That will keep them from doing too much research and also put them into Communism.

On a lighter note, I am happy to report that Arathorn left me one last forested square and so gave me the honor of destroying the Charis Nation Artic Forest and it is now completely changed into the Schmutzig National Strip Mine! The chineese did have the gall to land a Knight on mother's island, but this insult was quickly depatched when all of the women striped off their clothes. Apparently the stench killed them on the spot, or the sight of our lovely women, you pick.

Cretans 1525 AD

I was waiting for someone else to have a chance to jump in and play, but if need be you and I can finish this one Arathorn and at least put it to bed.

Arathorn took power in 1525 to a world in need of change. He made those changes.

As you can see, I settled a lot and beat up on Egypt. (Sorry the pictures don't exactly match up -- I just did a rough estimate.

Somebody besides Meldor wanna take a few swings?

Well I will be able to take a turn hear at some point. However, I can't promise when.

This weekend, stuck in the hotel game, is RBD6 - where I hope to complete the game. At least get the spaceship closer...

My first priority will always be to work on games where I can complete the game. I will help close some of current block of RBD games. But I can only help one monster at a time...

Plus LK24 world map game is running over 1/2 hour a turn now. Domination on hugh map is always time consuming.

Well 10 turns in RBD6 didn't take that long. I did get that one closer to finishing.

I got it. This can be my stuck in hotel for the weekend filler game.
10 turns - NO culture sounds easy enough.

RULES QUESTION

What is the rule if a city offers to flip to us?
Hasn't happened yet, but I want to be ready to answer.
Rebuff or take, and abandon the cultural tainted city?

However it was agreed that they must be turned down. We only take cities by force and those must be razed immediately.

(0) 1575 AD - We are hurting for defending infantry.
War with Germany - Not worth pursueing heavily until we have more ships.
War with Egypt - going full steam.

(1) 1580 AD - Every turn will be MMOW!
Cities founded - Coast City, HillTop Town, ForrestVille, WheatTown, VerySmallSpot.
Cities razed - Oka (By a Bull Rider!)
(I) For a mere $50 we keep India allied with us vs. Germany.

(2) 1585 AD -
Cities founded - IceTop, TopO'World.
Cities razed - NONE, though Memphis has been very well rubbled.
(I) Germany / Aztec peace treaty.
This is unaceptable, I give the Aztec Silks / Ivory to restart the war.
Aztecs start ToE. It really hurts me to ignore that wonder.

(3) 1590 AD - During the battle for Memphis, the great leader Herakles appears.
I form an empty army by Knossos - it is reserved for when tanks appears.
Cities founded - MoreCity, LeeVille
Cities razed - Memphis (destroying the digusting Observatory)
Caughnawaga - gaining even more workers, 2 cannons and 2 catapults.
Upgrading these use up most of the spare cash.
However, who will argue with 4 more pop guns?
I get Japan to sign a trade Embargo vs. Germany and Egyptian.
Do the same with India and the Aztecs.
If the alliance expire, at least they will be cut from potential supplies.

We notice an empty Egypt Iron Colony - it is destroyed.

(4) 1595 AD -
Cities razed - Thebes - by a swordman
Helipolis - It was Empty - Egypt is really hurting to have this happen.
Alexandria - Again we capture 1 cannon.
Cities founded - Twin Peaks
(I) Atomic Theory in 4 turns.

(5) 1600 AD -
Cities razed - Asyut
Cities founded - WhyNotAnother, NearBarbs

Isn't this awful late to be still fragging barb camps?
(I) Spice supply goes away, it would cost over $100 / turn to keep going.
I will look for other choices during my turn.
THIS SUCKS - Multiple unrest immediately.
I don't even get one frelling turn to find a better deal.

(6) 1605 AD - We are getting totally screwed for luxuries.
Two luxuries and $120/turn to India for Spices.
We really need another PERMANENT source of luxuries.
No action on cities this time.

(7) 1610 AD -
Cities razed - New Frankfurt with a ship in port (how dare Germany pollute on lands)
Byblos - with 3 more workers inside. Something we really don't need.

We frag 2 morer Barb camps. Is this really the 1600s?
I start fortifying some of the workers.
There are very little important tasks left.

(8) 1615 AD - The infantry ARMY begins the Assualt on Elephatine.
Cities razed - Elephatine
I don't know what is more pathetic - fragging barb camps - or that I am happy to get $25.

LAK-065.jpg

(I) Begin research on Electronics. We could really use Hoover.

(9) 1620 AD - Scratch yet another barb camp.
Cities founded - MamaMia, SpiceyMeatball, JustaIsland
(I) Japan starts Hoover Dam
Tokyo completes ToE

(10) 1625 AD -
Cities founded - HallOfShame, ResourceCity, BigIslandTown

Summary - Egypt is DEAD!
The first troops landed in Germany. The second wave is loaded.

I used our cash flow to rush more infantry.
I chopped down all the forest I could to help rush builds, mainly infantry.
We are still way short of infantry for the number of cities we have.
When Marines appear we could be in trouble.

I am sure there is some stray "j" stack movement for the next turn.

Suggestion:
This one should become an OPEN game.

There are only an handful of people, like myself, who will be up for this hugh of scope. I think the game will finish that way.

Reading a thread hijack, you guys are forgetting than I'm involved in this, too. Yeah, it takes me a few days to get my turns in, but I'm still involved. I was planning on playing after meldor, so there are three of us in this one.

Arathorn

No offense intended....but this one has been on a back burner for all of us it seems......I will post as soon as I get home.

@Arathorn -
I did no mean to imply that I was cutting you out of the loop.

I simply wanted to start the fact that I will be out of town this weekend with nothing to do, and that I will be looking for extra Civ to pick up this weekend.

Meldor back in power after many years away....what happened to Charis, to Sirian, to Smutzig? We must find out. After assuming the riegns Meldor find what happened. Worker after worker comes to him every day and ask, "What Iam I to do today?" Is there nonoe of them that can decide for themselves. Oh, well, at least the Germans are fun!

1630 AD New Hamburg falls. Fragged two barbs camps in old china

1635 AD Gain 5 cannon when the Germans counter attack and leave only a rifle covering them. Move them back to upgrade.

1640 Movementand one more Barb camp fragged

1645 Razed Dallas.

1650 Razed New Konesberg. Found five new cities.

1655 Frag another barb camp. Strakia flips to India and gets added to the list.

1660 Frag a barb camp and raze New Leipzig.

1665 Bradenburg razed

1670 Raze Dortmond

1675 Finish settling old china except were India got spots....Did I mention that they were added to the list?

1680 Raze Hanover.

We now have a good foot hold in Germany. They won't last the next persons turn. They can only build bowmen. India has the most cites left on our continent so would make a nice next target. Flight due next turn and Once we put an airport on the nortwest end of the Japaneese/Indian Continent they can both be had. We should rush this as fast as we can before everyone starts to get tanks.

RBD13 1680AD

I took no notes, so this is all off the top of my head....

OY! Turns take FOREVER. My computer isn't slow but our overabundance of cities makes things quite ... well, slow.

Our home continent is nearly completed railed/irrigated/improved. I left many of the workers fortified, fortified a few more, put a few dozen on auto-improve (but not allowing them to undo previous things). We, in theory, could lumberjack in a lot of corrupt cities, but .... oi. I just don't think it's worth it.

We also are getting a fair bit of pollution at this point. It's usually clean up automatically, though, by our worker forces. F11 provides a nice easy end-of-turn check of that.

The attack on Germany is going SLOWLY. They have massive cultural borders that take forever to penetrate. I was even attacking a fair few cities without artillery support (we're producing a slew of cavalry). This (forgotten?) rule also slowed me down some....

- An army must make the first attack on any enemy capitol

I shipped over an army and filled it with cavalry to help with that. It's currently in range of the third German capital. They only have 3 cities left. (I only took 6 turns, too, because of time, else I would have finished them off.)

I also tried to fill in all the spaces over there. No, we can't win by domination (conquest only), but if we build cities there, it means noone else will/can, limiting the amount of work we have to do later.

Research was continued -- why not? We're one turn from tanks. I would continue researching toward Modern Armor. We have tons of commerce from hundreds of cities. Might as well get some military advantage out of it.

The attack force for Japan is getting into position. A few things to keep in mind here:
- They have one city on "our" continent which should get immediate attention
- We have current deals with them that don't expire for 6 turns. We've been "honorably" declaring war before this time. Might be worth continuing. Ordering them out might work, too, though.
- Our one city on their continent has an airport and enough forces for an initial push but will need more.
- Japan only has one source of rubber, I believe. I did *NOT* get a ship into position to bombard it away, however.
- India as an ally would be a good idea -- they share all *3* of Japan's islands
- Plan to invade other two Japanese islands is incomplete

I would've played 10, but Lee indicated he had time this weekend. Another few turns would be another several nights, so I pass it off in this form.

Mop-up time....

You can put me in for "GOT IT".

I will post how ever many I complete by Sunday night.
Will depend what games come due.

(0) 1720 AD - It is funny how you sometimes inherit your destiny.
Last time I gave a destiny to invade Germany.
This time I get a stack of units in Wrong Islandus set to attack.

A - Japan will accept a RoP, so I do have my choice of Japan or India next.
We already have a RoP with India.
OK, once Germany is dead, I have plenty of choices.
Both of the deals can be cancelled shortly. :)
Diplo confirms the 3 German cities I can see are it.

B - I perform what I know will be very painful - A city production review.
We don't need 1/1 cities to grow beyond 6, so I switch all aqueducts / hospital to infantry.
We are still really hurting for coastal city defense - I don't want a marine surprise.
I hire a lot more tax collectors.
I squeeze more production, and our army city builds them 1 turn faster.

C - I spend down to $1000 to rush more military. I will do this every turn, but won't report it again.

 I find active workers inside our cities?

Over ~1 hour later, and I am ready to hit enter :crazyeye:
This variant idea should have been a standard map.
Well I wanted all weekend filler, I got it.
(I) Next science goal - fission, however I don't know if the UN will be built before the game ends.
Drop science to 50%, and only one turn longer. I want the cash.
The people are so happy to see me, the palace expands.

(1) 1725 AD - This is the only game I could use MSOW - Much sleeping of workers - I have a handfull of workers optimizing

cities, elsewise it would take 3 hours / turn.
Cities razed: Cologne
Cities formed: None.
We are so OVERLOADED with workers, that I join all of our natual workers back to our cities to get more production / money.

(2) 1730 AD - Begin the rush to fill in former Germany.
Cities razed: Salzburg, Konigsberg (Army hit it first - we liberated $243 gold!)
Cities formed: Spread Eagle, Hot Babe, Twin Hills, Wall Calendar,
Germany is DEAD.
Deal with Japan has 4 turns, deal with India has 17 turns. Guess who dies next?

(3) 1735 AD - Begin to removed excess troops from former Germany - massive shuttle to Wrong Islandus - secondary to island ne

of former Germany.
Cities formed: Atzec Blocker, Furry City

(4) 1740 AD -
Cities formed: Massage, Parlor, Dirty Dancing, Show Me Yours, Nice Mountains

(5) 1745 AD -

(6) 1750 AD -
Cities formed - G-string

(7) 1752 AD -
(I) new Khania has been polluted by Aztec culture

(8) 1754 AD - IT'S TIME - WAR.
Sign an mpp with India.
Cities razed - Suo, Albuquerque, Sapporo,
Cities formed - WinAPI, Visual Basic
Our artillery pounds are many ironclads are we can reach to encourage the Japan fleet to leave.
(I) As expected, India declares war on Japan
 No ground counter-attack.
I watch a lot of ironclads sink by former Germany with India and Japan fighting - we are the real winner.

(9) 1756 AD -
Cities razed - Matsuyama, Nagasaki, Kagoshima
Cities formed - Windows SDK, MicroFocus, COBOL, Hacker, Core Dump
The attack on Nagasaki produces the leader - Orion - a new army is formed.
(I) The war will spread - Japan / Aztec MPP.
Japan counter-attack - 1 cavalry is killed.
Begin Rocketry research, though I doubt we will build any ma.
What a surprise - the Aztecs declare war.

(10) 1758 AD -
Cities razed - Tokyo (with the Toe  ), Elundra 2
Cities formed - Infinite Loop, Control-Break, WinBlows, Annoying Spot, It's a bug

Summary:
Note to all - Ships build on the northern half of the land mass are worthless - ALL ships should only be build on the

southern side - our very close to Rafkos and the canal sneak.

Lots of settlers hiding in Wrong Islandus.
Kill the other two Aztec cities on our continent.

Artillery stack and Tank army ready to hit Japan capital.
