Rbw2 - Angry Korea Man

I HATE IT WHEN A GAMBLE FAILS TO PAY OFF!

Decided to risk getting the settler out and to delay finishing CoL until the new city was in place. Bloody Mansa founded Conf in the inter-turn before I founded Wonsan. Sorry, guys, my bad. Other than that, we now have four cities a a l33t longbow...

If a picture paints a thousand words...then I might as well have written them given the ANGER imageshack brought me.

Hannibal moved the above stack to the plains hill forest but didn't attack (both LBs were back in town), so I made peace on the next turn.

Dead barb, but no Confucianism for us...

civ4screenshot0008rc4.jpg

Having spotted its borders, I sent a chariot to scout it out and then a couple of LBs to take it. Suicided the chariot to take the Illinois more rapidly, and without risk to our injured LBs.

I HATE TRADING SO THE NEXT PLAYER CAN DO SOME!

civ4screenshot0013jf8.jpg

I HATE HANNIBAL EVEN MORE THAN I HATE TRADING! I THINK HE MIGHT BE UP TO SOMETHING: PEACE TREATY SOON TO EXPIRE!

I played 14 turns in this round. CoL is selected as we might as well finish it, but we want to trade in Maths and Masonry then head to Construction to send some grapes of wrath in Hannibal's direction. Workers are cottaging at Seoul and I think we should chop the forest immediately adjoining the city as soon as possible.

I HATE READING SHORT TURNSET REPORTS, MUCH LESS WRITE THEM
I HATE HAVING A LACK OF SCREENSHOTS TO SHOW

I am not at all upset that we could not found Confucianism. IT IS NOT A MAIN KOREA RELIGION! So for this turnset, I had a bit of a... side goal ;)

Well.... Hannibal didn't declare war. Instead, he founded a city beside where those units were placed.

Not much happened at all. Another settler is on the way. I did a lot of barb defense, but it was easy. In terms of techs:

Finished CoL, researched Fishing
Traded Monarchy to Mansa for Polytheism, Mathematics and... Sailing? (Hannibal switched to Hereditary Rule, so I knew we no longer had a monopoly)
Researched Monotheism and...

BECAUSE CHRISTIANITY IS A KOREA RELIGION, UNLIKE CONFUCIANISM!

And thus ended my turnset. I have started researching Construction for those ANGRY Hwacha!

SHUT UP I HATE YOU!

Each player can make his own calls right now (we're not trying to avoid the wooden spoon here  ). I guess the choice is either to fill in a city or two, or build more LBs in preparation for Hwacha-Bow conquest. Either is fine by me.

I took a look at the save.

Wonsan is working crap. The cure to working crap is switching to a worker and whipping the worker, less crap being worked, and a worker to improve the crap to something good (FOR THE GLORY OF KOREA!). Feel free to whip a second worker right afterwards, workers are good (but don't whip a 2nd worker if you give the cow back to the capital). Chop+Cottage it, a grassland farm will help too for growth since it'll probably have to give the cows back.

Illinois should have the granary whipped, right now, then finish the workboat.

P'yong is good - although it will need a temple (or a cheap garrison) to get to happy cap 7 (at which point it can work all good tiles).

Also we should look into getting some Great Prophets, getting a temple in Seoul would work (add a priest to Oracle GPP). Illinois is an obvious choice for a GPP pump, but we might want to run scientists there.

I think our position is strong enough (WE HAVE ALL THE ANGER FROM ALL PAST KOREA AI WHICH GOT DOGPILED BEFORE 1AD IT HAS HAPPENED IN LIKE EVERY GAME I'VE PLAYED WITH KOREA AI EVERYONE HATES KOREA BUT NOW WE HAVE ALL THAT ANGER TO DESTROY ALL NON-KOREA), our position is so good we could declare war on half the civs and still pull through (Don't be afraid to add some chaos, like OH I HATE HANNIBAL SO I DECLARED WAR ON HIM KEKE HAVE FUN). But for the short term future, we could spam out some more cities there's at least like 3 or 4 more city sites. We could also chop out a lot of Hwachas and go invading the AI will put up precious little resistance against lvl3 Longbow+Hwacha stacks. We want to get Calendar fairly promptly.

Let the ANGER (and this post) guide you.

 KOREA!

Executive Summary

  • I've marked some future city sites with signs. I'm inclined to raze Frankfurt and build in other places.
  • We have six hwachas and eleven longbows.
  • Everyone except Roosevelt is now Confucian and hates us. THAT MAKES ME ANGRY!
  • We have Calendar and Literature now. For our next tech, I think we should look at Civil Service (irrigation spreading and Bureaucracy), Music (for the great artist, for potential use in a great work in a just-captured city), Iron Working (to see if we have any, and mines for production), or Metal Casting (should be obvious).
  • I've started the Great Library in Illinois. We still have some forests there to chop to add more hammers. I suggest we make it into a GP-farm with the National Epic.
  • I founded a new city in the south. We should probably get missionaries to it and Pusan sooner or later.
  • We have a great general in Seoul.
  • Workers are near our Calendar resources; right now, I've been using the army to suppress disorder in the cities, but once those plantations are up, we can move it out.
  • I HATE HANNIBAL! I think we should kill Hannibal.

I AM ANGRY! WHY AM I ANGRY?! WE DON'T HAVE A COHERENT PLAN!

MY PLAN IS ANGRY! I'm going to whip some workers, then chop some forests to build lots of hwachas and longbows, then I'm going to kill Bismarck, and maybe Hannibal too!

In addition to this, I want to do several other things. I'm going to make a dotmap for future cities. I'm going to build more cottages, especially around Seoul, which will be a cottage farm in the future. I'm going to start Illinois on the course of becoming a GP farm by building the Great Library there.

125 AD: We only have five workers. THIS IS NOT ENOUGH WORKERS TO CHOP THE HWACHAS! I set Pyongyang, Wonsan, and Illinois to whip workers for mass chopping. I take our surviving chariot south to explore the antarctic peninsula. I change Seoul to a settler, to build on one of the better sites in the south. KOREA KOREA!

150 AD: Construction comes in, I set research to Literature. Whip workers, move workers.

175 AD: Bismarck is sending a pack of archers to Seoul to help train our longbows. I send some longbows for training.

200 AD: Mao converts to Confucianism. YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MAKES ME? ANGRY!

225 AD: Ghengis wants me to cancel deals with Mansa. SHUT UP I HATE YOU! Our people are angry because of the whipping. I'M ANGRY AT OUR PEOPLE FOR BEING ANGRY! I found Namp'o in the south.

250 AD: Hannibal converts to Confucianism. THAT MAKES ME ANGRY! Roosevelt declares war on Hannibal. I kill two of Bismarck's archers near Seoul, BECAUSE THEY MADE ME ANGRY!

275 AD: Bismarck converts to Confucianism. THAT MAKES ME ANGRY! Roosevelt wants to trade Iron Working for Construction. SHUT UP I HATE YOU! I whip Pusan's granary.

300-350 AD: Nothing interesting.

375 AD: Whip a library in Illinois.

400 AD: Start the Great Library in Illinois.

425-450 AD: Move workers, intercept an archer/catapult stack from Bismarck.

475 AD: Roosevelt wants us to declare war on Hannibal. SHUT UP I HATE YOU!

500 AD: We finish research on Calendar. I set research to Civil Service, but there are a couple of plausible alternatives. We lost a longbow at 80% odds attacking Bismarck's catapult/archer pair outside Seoul, but the rest win. This creates a great general in Seoul.
