I lurked for over a year without ever posting. I post a bit now and then, but I don't read everthing either. Just the stuff that seems interesting that I may want to post to. So I'm in the 3-4 range.

Another 20+ lurker.
I read a lot of threads, even in OT, but I only post when I find something interesting and think I have something to add, which isn't that often.

@Grille: I took it to mean the new posts in a thread. And yes, I do follow a lot of SG games and OT discussions... :)
Ok, thanks for commenting [and reading my post...;)].:)
You might notice that in time the my number of posts per session is increasing. ;)
I hope so(:D), since I always get nice showers by thinking of Mr Bowie and The Nits when I see your appearance.:)

If only those posters with a very small read/post ratio notice this interesting thread (locically, they'd then also post in this one...)

Me exactly! I just registered, but I've been periodically stopping in to read up on strategies for about a year. I kept telling myself I should register, but I really never got around to it...

anarres: "I may read about 3 or 4 threads per post I make"

That's make you the prood owner of 45-60000 posts of the 177500 posts of "general discussion" :D
I'm joking, probably u may skip reading a lot of posts ;à)

I'm a lurker, and post a lot more questions than affirmations.. I think that's make me a newbie :d

also a king lurker, read most of the boards, hang around mostly in the SG forum on this site but have never posted there, it does improve your play by a couple of levels though

probably average a post or two a week but visit the site more than once a day

Hmm, I kind of thought we would get a bunch of 20+ posters, and I'm glad to see we do.

sorky:

It really wouldn't suprise me if I have read 45 to 60,000 posts at CFC. It's not that hard when you do it every day for 18 months. Also I used to read a hell of a lot more than I posted. I would say I was in the 10 to 15 threads per post until about a year ago. At another forum I've read over 12000 posts in 6 months.

Like Padma, I read quite a bit, then post Moderator Action: stuff. ;)

Don't know, don't care.

Sorry anarres. . .I'm just in a foul mood this morning. I do know that I post a lot and change my mind before I hit the submit reply button. . . so if'n I had to guess, I'd say it was maybe 5 or 6 to 1. . . that's a guess.

~0.1 posts per day....that must make me King of the Lurker Kings :)

I actually mean threads. I probably read 5-6 new threads per day in each of at least six forums, plus others, and post 3-4 times/day, usually in threads I've already posted in.

If you count re-reads of existing threads with new posts, I probably read 50+ of those per post, if not 80+....

Arathorn

I only read threads with titles that interest me, hence ~ every 2nd thread I read, i'll post in :)

I'm more or less with Gainy on this one.

I am a very mediocre player who can only just about win on Regent about once in every three times despite a having played Civ for some time and spent far longer than the norm battling against chieftain and warlord.

Emporer is a complete no-no.

I therefore enjoy reading the succession games forums to try to pick up tips on how the better players manage to succeed.

In particular I would like to give thanks to LKendter, Aggie, ChrTh, Sirian. Meldor , mad-bax, T-Hawk , Chieftess , Arathorn, and the many many others who play the game at a level way ahead of me and give a great education into how to play the game . To anyone who is new to the list I would highly recommend reading some of the games in the Succession games forum which have been played at Emporer / Deity . Most of the people who have been playing at this level for some time take a lot of the tacticts for granted , but I usually manage to learn something new each time I revist an active SG .

Although I have found replies to my posts in the General Discussion thread in the past very valuable I personally tend to find it is far easier to pick up tips from reading other people's posts rather than to post idiot newbie questions that have probably been posted many times before .

So - I will continue to lurk until further notice (unless I am still finding it impossible to survive at Emperor in 6 months time in whih case I will be asking for advice :) )

I voted in the 5-6 range but it varies a lot. Sometimes I post often and other times I post very little compared to what I read.
