Real Strategy (AI)

Real Strategy (AI) 2.3.1

Had another game with my heavily modded setupe - on smoother Emperor.
I tried to be peaceful, had a bad tundra start with Frelenor - and lost to AI Kongo, who made CV victory at the start of Future Era...

Nice :goodjob:

Now I run a small pangea Auto test with only RST and Smoother Era mod - on Emperor to see when do AI win.
We have Tomyris (CONQ), Nubia (SCI), China (CONQ), Scotland (SCI), USA (DIPLO) - and Kupe human...

at turn 65 Scotland has 4 campuses, others have 1
turn 120: Nubia and Scotland sci is at ca. 70/turn, China makes 70 culture/t
turn 160: Scotland 145sci/t, Nubia 120sci/t, China 100cul/t
turn 220: Scotland 200sci/t, Nubia 150sci/turn, China 170cul/t
turn 250: Both Scots and Nubia has 51-52 techs, China is at ca. 40% CV
Nubia and Scythia go for CONQ
turn 320: Scotland is at 2/6 SV, China is 50% CV but Scythia and USA has strong culture, USA is at 5/10 diplo
turn 380: Scots finished tech and are 3/6 SV, China is 75% CV, USA is 8/10 diplo
turn 400: Scots are 4/6 SV, China is 80% CV, USA is 8/10 diplo
turn 420: Scots are 5/6 SV, China is back to 70% CV, USA is back to 7/10 diplo
turn 440: Scotland wins SV

there were wars but no serious conquests, only 1-2 cities

turn 85: civs have 6-7 districts, Sumer changed to SCI
Spain and Brazil have religion - Spain is 50/t, Brazil is 10/t faith
turn 100: most deceloped civs are with ca 10 districts: Nubia, China, Brazil
turn 130: Spain is 110/t Brazil is 25/t faith, Nubia leads in sci, Brazil vs Sumer war
turn 160: Spain has 3/6 civs converted, Brazil is 25% CV
turn 175: Spain has 4/6 civs converted, Brazil is 30% CV
turn 210: Spain has 5/6 civs converted, Brazil is 33% CV
turn 218: Spain won RV

in the firetuner panel I think the number of cities converted to faith is not OK (last data in lower-left panel)

turn 400: Scots are 4/6 SV, China is 80% CV, USA is 8/10 diplo
turn 420: Scots are 5/6 SV, China is back to 70% CV, USA is back to 7/10 diplo
turn 440: Scotland wins SV
Interesting ending. 3 strong contenders emerged.
And America with 8/10 diplo is pretty impressive...

This is a number directly from the game engine, same as in victories window. player:GetStats():GetNumCitiesFollowingReligion()
However, I also noticed that it displays some weird data.
I think that this function is not showing cities that you converted but number of cities following the religion which is a dominant religion in your empire. So, if you founded a religion and converted your empire it should be ok. But if you founded a religion, but it was killed by other religion and your emprire is actually following some other religion - it would show that other religion.

Another smoother immortal AI test, all but RV victories, small pangea

turn 150: Rome has 150sci/t and 15 cities, double of others
turn 175: Rome again vs.Sweden, Sweden is down to 4 cities
Scythia/India vs. Kongo but Kongo defends well
many wars...
turn 200: Rome makes 300sci/t
turn 220: Rome has 50 techs, Kongo 41, India 38
turn 240: Rome makes 400sci/t
turn 260: India makes same sci as Rome (now 360)
turn 290: Rome gets to 1/6 SV, India also 1/6 at turn 300, and Kongo too 1/6 at turn 315
turn 330: Rome 77/77 techs, but Kongo is the first to 2/6 SV, Rome is 2/6 at turn 337, India is 2/6 at turn 350

How fast will AI do SV on deity? Let's an SV only test:
AI test, smoother deity, small pangea, SV only

AI: Zulu, Mongolia, Mapuche, China, Arabia - interesting set for science :)

Seeing the map a Mongolia vs Mapuche conflict is predictable,
and also China will fight for land vs Arabia.
Zulu are surrendered with big mountain chains and CSs...

turn 60: Arabia, China and Mapuche are fast building science, Zula and Mongolia are slow on that
turn 100: the big 3 civs have ca. 25 techs, Zulu are close to them Mongolia is badly crammed into small place...
turn 150: Zulu make the most science 220/t, and so catched up to the bi3, they are big 4 now...

if Mongolia wants anything in this game, Genghis should attack neighbour (human) Kupe...
But no war, it is all peace - not even a CS is captured...

turn 200: China and Zulu lead the tech race (52 and 50 techs), they both are close to 500/t sci
turn 220: China and Zulu are at 60 techs and at 2/6 SV - SPs are built all over...
turn 250: China and Zulu are at 70 techs, but still 2/6 SV, Arabia and Mapuche are also 2/6
turn 265: China and Zulu are at 3/6
turn 280: China, Zulu, Arabia at 4/6, China and Zulu finished tech tree
turn 288: Mongolia is great, with lower sci and only at 68 techs, is also at 4/6 - four civs are at 4/6
turn 295: Zulu and China and Arabia at 5/6 - who will win? :)
turn 320: Zulu wins SV, all civs were at 5/6 before that... btw Shaka had 1200sci/t

Zulu and Mongolia probably suffered at the begining from Aggresive trait added by Firaxis. It will redirect some of their efforts into encampments and units, they wont fully focus on science.
Later on it matters less. Interesting how Zulu quickly build science anyway.
In the end 3/6 civs sent exoplanet around T280, awesome.
Those tests I mentioned were done before GS, so less techs to research and all projects available a bit earlier.
Good results.

I played a heavily modded real smmother emperor tiny pangea game with 6 major civs and low sea level and fewer CSs - I drew Frelenor...
I was in the middle of the pangea, and could not get many cities, as AI settled all around me and had military too...
Or was I just too shy being peaceful...? Anyways, I had 6 cities, neighbour AIs (Inca, Arabia, Hungary) got 8-9... then 12-13...
By Renaissance I was 10 techs behind and Hungary had strong culture.
Sumeria conquered many Spanish cities.
And all of a sudden I lost the game in early Industrial age - as Arabia got religious victory...

I am having a great and exciting game on smoother emperor, tiny pangea, 5 civs, 3 CSs
I am Mali - neigbour Spain attacked me in Ancient Era, got one of my cities, I took it back and got peace...
Then other neighbour Sweden attacked me with swords and mixed army, took one of my cities...
This time it was hard, only with the help of Spain I could manage to fight back and keep the city (Kristina returned it to me with peace).
Two Spanish cities flipped to me - but my third neighbour is the Inca: more cities, more science, more army...
It will be an interesting race! We have just begun the Industrial Age...
EDIT:
I have lost it - but surprise, not to the Inca, it was Monty's culture...

Definitely impressed with Real Strategy so far. Combined with Quo's Mod I'm seeing much more balanced score rankings across civs and no civ fell early.

My neighbor Japan built a terrifying early medieval era army and paced them back and forth across my borders while denouncing me, forcing me to wreck my science and economy build-up work to rush together an army anticipating the assault. Japan recognized my rising military prowess and repositioned their army to strike Gilgamesh instead, and slowly began improving relations with me now that he wasn't interested in military conquest.
