Glad to see things working out. I usually designate my capital as the SSC and try to go for the science wonders like Cheomseongdae, etc. The scientist spam strategy is really freaking effective, so much so that I am, without fail, leading science every game. I actually made some considerable modifications to make the AI not fall so behind lol. The strategy is also supremely effective in non RI civ4, where you rush the pyramids to get representation early, and then caste system. Of course, with RI being a much more balanced game, it is considerably weaker in RI than in BTS; still, weaker doesn't mean weak. Actually, in some ways it might even be more effective in RI than BTS, due to the fact that there some really important key techs that can really shape the battlefield. Off the top of my head, the most important military techs (to me) are flintlock muskets and jet propulsion/supersonic flight. Admittedly I'm fairly biased towards the later technologies, but getting flintlock muskets before everyone else gives you a window of time where you can just do whatever you please. I feel the same about jet propulsion and supersonic flight; with late game warfare being dominated by the skies, if you're about to get those cold war fighters while everyone else is still on WW2 fighters, the skies will clear extremely quickly and then you can bomb them into dust
