Realms Beyond Emperor: The DSG's

Well, with my one "easy" game just turning extremely hard let me get through all the up's I have before I start it at the very least . Im double up and double "on deck"

With my Training Game finished and my 2-man game with Sullla on hiatus, I suddenly have space for another SG. With C3C coming out in October there is apparently a new difficulty level named 'Sid." I have started to wonder what 'Sid' might entail and I'm thinking that maybe the AI gets even more units to start. Does anyone have an interest in playing the next RBP game (number 12) as a 'Sid Preview' where we mod the game so the AI starts with 50% more units than it does on Deity (so 3 settlers, etc.)? We could also adjust the cost ratio to 50%, so everything the AI builds/researches is 50% of our cost. Any takers?

That sounds like a doozy, Speaker, but I'm starting to get burned-out on PTW. I'll follow along with your discussions of this game, though. It should be tough. Good luck with it!

I followed closely the previous Deity plus game and I think I could handle this one with a good team.

Even I don't have a clue what "Sid" difficulty is going to entail; our current beta build doesn't include the new difficulty levels as yet. Your guess is as good as mine, but I would think that you are probably somewhere along the right lines. Lowering the cost factor below 50% would probably be too insane to contemplate (at 40%, techs would cost the human 250% of what the AI paid for them and the AI cities would only need 8 food to grow). Then again, maybe that's what the designers want! :crazyeye: I guess we'll have to wait and find out (most of you considerably longer than me :p)

I'm already in 2 SGs, which is my limit (and more). I'm already knee-deep in plans for LotR7 and I don't want to commit to another game right now. In a couple months, depending on schedule, it might work very well. At this point, I gotta bow out. Love the idea, though, and I'm also looking forward to Sid level....

Arathorn

It does sound like fun, but like Arathorn I have reached my SG limit atm (2). Actually I am most likely going to cut down to one at a time because I want to give a few PBEM games a try. Sometimes the timing is just off (like it was for GM-2 the first time around). If you do get this one off the ground I'll be there lurking.

If at least one of my SG could end soon (which may very well happen btw...)
I'll definitely go for it : I love the idea !
Detail : I'd rather have a third party check the map just to make sure we dont get a bad map before we embark on such an adventure !

Oh and between you and me, Anyone told me he was quite interested as well :D

I am at my limit right now, but if you were to wait awhile, I could play. Otherwise, I'll just lurk...

JMB

I too will join the chorus of "not right now". Though it's not strictly a lack of time, but it is a trying to do some other things besides Civ (like Freelancer) with the time I do have. And it'll be just our luck that we'll start the game and then a week later we find out that 'Sid' difficulty has nothing to do with the settings we chose. :)

My sentiments exactly, I would suspect that sid level may start with 20 units rather than 30, however I suspect that the 50% discount should be on target.
