Rebels in Civ3?

Jonah Falcon, webmaster of <a href="http://www.gamepen.com" target=link>GamePen</a>, wrote in <a href="http://www.cdmag.com/cgi-bin/WebX?14@^17245@.ee6fcd6/479" target=link>one of his posts</a> at the Computer Games Online forum that (in Civ3) <B>rebels can be different civs, but use the same graphic set as the civ they come from</b>. There is probabaly some truth in that since he's writing a preview for Civilization III...

Will you be able to have diplomacy with the rebels? You SHOULD be able to, I mean during the Civil War the Brits & the french were about to step in on the side of the Confederates, but didn't when Lincoln made the war a slavery issue. If you have diplomacy with the rebels, though, then their leader should look different. Sure would be funny if you were dealing with two "Abraham Lincolns", with one of them for the south and one for the north.

If the graphic set is the same, how will you know who's a rebel and who isn't?

Finally civil wars! The great empire-splitter! I have a feeling this game will be a lot more difficult to win...and I like it! I am going to be SO thrashed my first game

If you would ask me the unit right from the 'Civ Kit' is no MARINE but a REBEL. It doesn't look like a marine.

Great feature!! Do rebels start a civil war only when they don't like what you have done?? For example people who don't like that Civ will start a civil war if you deal a peace treaty with that Civ? Or when they are unhappy because they don't have that luxury good??

Anyway, this is just great!

but how about the mech.inf. If i didn´t know better i´d say it was a tank

will rebels be a sort of upgraded barbs?
i know barbs will have there own cities, so it wouldn´t surprise me.
