Rebuild of Revolution

Swiss Emperor Responds

In light of French aggression, Italian buffoonery, and general discontent of Switzerland, the Emperor has, in acting as the will of the people, taken steps to see Switzerland not made a mockery of. The army is expected to undergo continued expansion, and they will be busy with the Swiss countermeasure to the French.

These lands are to be annexed into the Swiss Empire this year. This should help balance the power in Europe, as the French decide to overstep their boundaries. To help contain the growing French, the Emperor also issues a Pact of Peace with Holy Rome. The details of this treaty include favorable trade relations, a defensive treaty, and a non-aggression pact.

In regard to the Italian Question, the Emperor has stated that it is obvious that the Italians have not learned enough from history; this foolish act of aggression will be met with a proper response if not rectified within one year's time. The Italians would do good to remember who has the bigger navy and who has the bigger treasury.

The French had in the past welcomed Swiss co-operation in Hispania but now the Swiss are attempting to hinder the Emperor's claimant by right of his uncle! They do so without the honesty of asking for a table talk and so do it in the name of "halting French aggression." Our "aggression" is but a welcomed return of French order to the Spanish regions. We are pleased though that north Spain is safe; with Swiss envy that we retook Corsica from them it is clear that they not acting in their best interest but rather on idealogical means. Since the first Napoleon Bonaparte dictated the term ideology for those who had their head in ideas but not in reality it is vital the Swiss heed their lessons. The fact that the Swiss are now attempting to lure other European powers into this crazed crusade against France suggests that civilization is endangered in places like Switzerland, thus France and the Roman Empire must continue to remain strong to ensure that the light of civilization does not die out. Hence we must spread out of Europe, while securing all that can be secured of Spain so that any further acts of confrontation by the Swiss will not hinder our already claimed territories.

The Emperor himself will later publish a map of French plans, while the Swiss continue their annexation and condemn France for doing the same.

Clearly ideology aids ones ability to preach what you say, Switzerland.

The pen scratched against the piece of paper while its owner surveyed his writings in the tropical heat.
"If Man was put on the Earth to be enslaved..."
It didn't seem quite correct.
"If Slavery is the Nature of things..."
Not quite either.
"Should Man be subject to treatment as an animal?"
Yes. This might work.
It was probably not a very good idea to work on this, even in secret, and much less as administrator of a plantation in Java. But to Douwe Einsma, this had to be done.
The Dutch had adapted their policies in an odd way. Sure, all slaves were promised good conditions, but the loophole in the law allowed any slave owned by an actual Inlander to be exempt, and so little changed that the law might as well not have been passed.
By the time the night was over, Einsma looked at the papers in front of him.
He had started writing a tract against slavery and the loopholes in the law.
He had just written the concluding sentence to a call for Indonesian Autonomy.

The Dutch did not heed America's warning. While the Monroe Doctrine may seem extreme, it is necessary to preserve rights that are God-granted to every man, including the most basic one of literal freedom. Therefore, America is sanctioning the Netherlands until they withdraw from South America and restore Guyanese independence.

The State of Guiana's status within the kingdom is under review. We do not wish to lose the territory, but we can grant it some sort of autonomy similar to South Africa. The same goes for Einsma's document in regards to Indonesia.

At the very least, slavery must be banned.

For the record, everything you have in the bank is already worked into your treasury. Everything that is in the subsidy section is already deducted from the treasury.

Since people missed it the first time apparently.

His Imperial Majesty, after consulting his most trusted advisor (OOC: a bottle of fine red wine) has made a conclusion on the Swiss response: we will claim the rest of Spain and begin our mission to civilize the world beyond Europe.

Spain, Africa and Brazil.png

While we claim the rest of Spain the French colonial effort will commence to bring light to North Africa, West Africa and Brazil. Our mission is to ensure the light of civilization beams most wonderfully and that the lest civilized will become civilized one day viva la France. Our efforts is for the benefit of the locals, who we sworn to protect from the true savages of this world: the British. We will commence like good missionaries the mission to allow those less fortunate to become the most fortunate, for were other colonial powers see the uncivilized as brutes that must be contented we see the less uncivilized as brutes that dream of one day becoming French; the difference of views is important. We are the enemies of ideology, for we deal in reality. We will ensure safety and hope that those who call us "aggressor" will learn from our civilized example that the age is one of imperialism, for imperialism in the right hands is a vehicle of peace. His Imperial Majesty processes those hands and will gladly take the luxury burden of the sword of leadership for those colonial lands we will take protect.

Viva la France!

Discouraging investment in France.

We are prepared to co-operate; would Argentina be a better place for France to expand than Brazil?

Edit: after consulting we are to forsake America and instead focus on isle ports instead of America; then we will be able to reach the world.

Discouragement is over. Back to neutral terms.

Progress marches on Britain, for the Emperor will progress France through this imperial age. The USA were freed from your rule by the aid of France; France desires good relations with the Americans. We are glad the Americans and us are in neutral terms once again. One day we hope for more than neutral terms with our American friends who we helped in their revolution against British colonial rule.

Viva la America and France!

Neutral does not mean friends. America does not need any solid political ties with Europe. However, we are happy to trade with anyone who has money.

France has money and fond memories of the Americans; we hope to encourage a friendship between us, especially over the wine that our entrepreneurs will supply you with.

We regret our past iniquities concerning the rights of the former 13 colonies. However, France has since been hostile for no good reason towards Britain and we must respond.

Seriously?

It's not like we said the thirteen colonies. We recognize the independence of America and we referred to it as the "former 13 colonies" because that is what you are: a country descended from the former colonies.

We thank the former Provincia Britannia for clarifying.

Tsarists: Conservative Monarchists usually from the upper classes and aristocracy, support the Tsar, Russian nationalism and the project of Russian Imperial destiny

Slavophiles: Reactionaries who idolise the traditions of old Russia, tsarist autocracy, and Russian Orthodoxy and dislike the various western influences and modernising reforms introduced over the centuries by the Tsar. See early Russia as an example of the "true Russian spirit" to be idolised and restored.

Zapadniks: A movement of intellectuals including some amongst the lower gentry who believe that Russia's development as a world power depends on its adoption of western constitutionalism, industrialism and more western values. Some even advocate allowing the unwashed Russian masses to vote. The savages!

History

Through the Sixteenth, Seventeenth and Eighteenth centuries the mighty Russian Empire ruled from Poland to Siberia, From the borders of Persia to the frigid arctic wastes. Yet the years of revolution and an unfortunate succession crisis between imperial twins (Mikhail I and his twin Prince Vladimir Romanov, the current Tsar being the first Mikhail's great grandson). changed all that, resulting in a much reduced imperial Russia, despite the ultimate defeat of revolutionary forces at the hands of Russia's crack Cossack troops and imperial legions at the hands of Tsar Mikhail II who personally crushed the last ounce of Crimean resistance, in a much reduced Imperial Russia, with Siberia reverting to its barbarous tribal state, as peripheral kingdoms and khanates in Lithuania, Poland, Ruthenia, the Caucasus and central Asia have asserted once more independence. Nevertheless Russia remains a power not to be trifled with, and with the indomitable Mikhail at the helm, Holy Rus looks towards the future with renewed fortitude and ice-cold determination to reclaim its rightful place as the pre-eminent power in Eurasia.

The French offer good tidings to Russia and would like to engage in a diplomatic marriage with them.
