AoA got the best one. It may be out of print, but there was a sequal a couple years back which launched a promotional reprint.
On the Beach by Nevil Shute may or may not be what you are looking for. Its a great book, but its about the end of life, not about civilization from the ashes. Brin's The Postman, which was made in to an awful Kevin Costner movie, is worth a read. Brin's work generally tends to deal with ecological repair. David Weber's Empire from the Ashes trilogy is being reissued, and the third book is somewhat in that vein, though very militaristic.

PS Obviously not more modern, but the two Robinsons are worth a look: Swiss Family Robinson and Robinson Caruso.
