You should check out the movie Baraka. It's the movie many of SMAC's wonder movie scenes are drawn from, and that youtube video is part of (minus the music).

I haven't seen Baraka in many years. I didn't realize the connection to the A C vids. Does anyone know if there was a link between the Baraka film makers and Alpha Centauri?

For WikiPedia, I tried a search to see if there were any "reliable sources" linking Baraka to SMAC and was unable to find any. Since Baraka is copyrighted, I would expect an acknowledgment in the manual's credits. Is there a forum post where Michael Ely, the multimedia producer, acknowledges drawing the wonder movies from Baraka?
