Recruiting for a Diplogame

Well personally I am indifferent to the two. If the prevailing opinion is Civ 6 let's go with that.

Do we want to try and get one or two more people on board? Without cpm, that makes four. I've reached out in a few different places with no more hits yet.

Oooh, a new diplogame! Howdy folks!

I probably won't have enough time to play or post (though I would greatly prefer Civ6 if I were playing, especially with R&F), but I'd like to support the effort to revive diplogaming, so I volunteer to be a non-player admin.

Also, since I've been checked out from the community for a while, and since Sommerswerd has really taken the lead in recent games, can you help me update this list of past diplogames? Both to add recent games that aren't on the list and to go back and try and fix the broken links to past games.

Read the story threads to jog your memory ;)

IMNSHO DoE 1 was the best diplogame. I also participated in DoE 2 and DoF but I don't think I am on your list because I joined as a sub for someone who quit. You might remember I was the (heroic, misunderstood:p) villainous, hated and despised Ottomans in DoE 1. :D

I would not recommend starting a Diplogame with less than 11 players... you need some room for shifting alliances as well as an amount that resists even distribution... prime numbers are ideal. 7 players is not ideal, but the absolute bare minimum.

Do you have any ideas for drumming up more interest? I thought 2 people seemed ambitious...

I think that reaching out to everyone who has played a diplogame in the past would be a good way to start. If none of them want to play we are in trouble. Another thing that might be helpful would be to have a more solidified gameplan already figured out. When you're inviting people to a game it can sometimes help if most of the details are ironed out.

Hey, Ozzy, long time no see! Oh, I remember our Civ 4 diplo-games so well.......great times. IIRC, we both worked on the Beyond the Sword Beta back in 2007. Or am I thinking of someone else?

I remember Toni from the old Civ 4 Diplo Games too.

Been hunting around for info from my Civ 4 Diplo days.....and 2 names come up in my old MSN Messenger list. Ian Adkins & Trevor Walker. Ring any bells?

Howdy fellow civvers! Glad to see some old buddies and some new guys around here. Been a long time lol. ANd were some crazy good games back in the days.

For Ozzy's historical list of DIplogames, Destruction of Foes was won in-game by Mzprox with his Egypt. Gods & Heroes in-game I won myself (I would be tempted to say the same for Destiny of Empires too :D )

As for current diplo-game, I think I would just sit around and listen to your stories, having too many non-diplo games at Civ4 to play and played only once Civ5 and did not liked it and never tried Civ6.

I am very interested. I saw your thread in the Civ V forums. I have Civ IV and V, but not VI. I think Giant Multiplayer Robot would be the best format if we were playing Civ V. It is easier than emailing your saved game, you just play your turn and it sends it to the next person for you. I have not had issues with it.

We could also use pitboss, which would allow for a turn timer of 1-2 days. I had someone else express interest through Steam for a Civ 5 game as well. I believe that would make 6 for Civ 5.

@Sommerswerd what do you suggest for game settings? My thought is terra (everyone start in “old world”), standard pace. Basic rules (1. Don’t quit/let someone know, 2. No wars of annihilation, 3. Stay Anonymous).

I’m not sure how all this would work with mods, but I think the base game is probably sufficient.
