So how are the post-referendal feeilings in Scotland now ? I'm so uninformed. I've heared on the radio yesterday that there were some troublemakers in Glasgow and some people are outright enraged by the results. I also agree with Flying Pig there - Scots choose what They wanted, They didn't loose. I see that some pictures posted here indicate that 45's were outnumbered byt 55's because all of the older people voted 'no' because They just wanted their British pensions - is that true ? Also rich oil reserves in Scotland make that pictures somewhat relevant I think.

btw. Did The Queen said something on the matter ?

Lord that's an old schtick with new clothes. Any reason this should have any more teeth than the dovetails "Get off my lawn" or "Darn kids these days?"

Yeah. Iirc, she said that people should think very carefully before voting. Sounded like a veiled threat to me.

Or a statement of the obvious. I couldn't make up my mind.

Duh, they fought Hitler! You gotta respect that, now shouldn't you?

I'm not sure that's a response to the point I was trying to make.

Baby boomers didn't fight Hitler, though.

They fought the commies in Korea (hmm, maybe a bit too young). The Malayans (still maybe too young) and the Vietnamese (maybe a bit too old). (Some baby boomers at any rate.)

You were asking if they were more threatening than the ones yelling at kids for stepping on their damn lawns. I answered sarcastically that, yes, they would be more threatening because they fought Hitler, making fun of one of the slogans aimed at the Yes voters, that they're betraying their older population which fought for an united Kingdom.

Or something to these words.

Alright, so people are putting stock in that sort of thing. That's kinda sad. Oh well, probably not much to be done about it other than sigh and hold a slightly more realistic view of how much people are actually capable of change.

Yes, but research is hard and difficult, and pretty unnecessary when you're preserving the territorial unity of your country.

Most of my country (Poland) girls decide to give birth in Great Britain because They hope to be included in their social programme. I have no kids so far but free cash sounds good to me . Maybe You Englishman should reform Your foreign social policy ? ;) I've also heard that there are more Polish people born in England than in Poland o.O ... yeah ... Our country sucks on social but I've heared that in England (Golden Land) it's like a dream come true ! Is that right ? What are Your thoughts on invasive Polish immigrants -wannabe residents- who "steal" Your pension money, not to mention jobs ??? :O

I've got nothing against Polish people, which is just as well, since we're knee-deep in them. They even have their own shelf in the library. With books full of incomprehensibly long Polish words.

But as far as I know there's only 500,000 Polish immigrants in the UK. (Not counting the 100,000 - and their descendants - or so, left over from WW2).

Their most significant contribution is a lot of jabbering away in Polish in the supermarkets.

Immigration generally is causing some problems for the creaking infrastructure, especially health care. But that's just a matter of adjustment, I think, which should resolve itself in time.

Immigrants are usually working-age people who are keen to make a place for themselves in a, relatively, wealthy country. I think the UK is a net gainer from this.

Though that doesn't stop the overtly racist people from claiming that immigrants simultaneously take British people's jobs, and do nothing but claim benefit; and also jump the housing ladder while living in overcrowded slum conditions. But that's people for you.

Immigration is nothing new to the UK.

I think it's a good sign when people want to come to your country. Imagine if no one did!

So would Yout guys wouldn't terribly mind if I rat on my country and emmigrate to Yours .... :mischief: ;) :D

I mean UK of course - Im liking it more than MC Donalds lol ! xD

I don't think anyone could stop you. Even if they wanted to. And no doubt some do want to. But most of the prejudice is against non-Europeans. I've heard no one complain about Polish people. Except maybe they work too hard. Although not according to this Latvian guy I met: he claimed Poles are all lazy so-and-sos.

Tell You what !! If Scotland turns Your back on You England plese include us - Poland instead ! xD ;)

Even North Korea attracts immigrants, so you shouldn't hold your breath! :goodjob:

At this point when monsters like Putin run around. I am willing to make unusual mergers and unite against the threat ;)

Already done. Poland is a NATO member and an attack against Poland is also an attack against the UK and other members. (Unless the attacker is also a NATO member.)
