DISCLAIMER!!!!
Spoiler :
I actually agree with quite a bit of this, and I would like for more people to come and play online. We probably need to come to a measure of consensus about what is kosher and what isn't ... still, given the needlessly spiteful posts by certain individuals who state they do not wish to ever play rp again, I feel that some harsh humor is (in my opinion) the funniest response

Here at the Department of Outlined Universal Certain Heuristic Evolution, it is our job to form a legislative branch of the FFH gaming community, in order to pass resolutions for future RP games, so that we can be properly restricted in how we play our nations and our characters.

You can fill out a Character Sheet, a government format, and a Personality Chart of favorite religion and favorite civs. It will be looked over by myself, and I will give suggestions, although I appoint NeOmega as the Supreme Judge, with Veto Power of a Personality Chart and Character Sheet as a whole.

Since we must bow to the ultimate authority, it seems fitting that NeOmega should write our constitution ... however I feel it is necessary to start setting some Thou Shalt Not Guidlines.

#1. Thou shalt not use Synergy, unless it either fulfills every dimension of your civ's flavor, or buys you time to invest in a frivolous and arbitrary pursuit

#2. Thou shalt not act unless notifying your action 10-50 turns ahead of time. The game lobby will be referred to as "story time" where we audibly plan out or strategies and story lines, and tell everyone what we plan on doing.

#3. Thou shalt not consume larger nations. If ye are the smartest and the strongest, you must wait till Divine Essense to launch an invasion ... otherwise you are to look out for the weak, and punish those that would abuse their power.

#4. Thall shalt not play as the Kuriotates, unless you are new to FFH multiplayer, and/or you have not played them before.

and most importantly ...

#5. Thou shalt not invade the Sidar, at least not until the Sidar have the Guilds tech, have been crippling your efforts for years, and the Sidar leader says he is ready to be invaded.

In 15 turns I plan to invade the east coast by sea in a Surprise attack which will decimate your pathetic poorly defended cities

Then in 20 turns, I will attack the west coast, because you took my word for it that I said I would attack the east coast and now the west coast will be poorly defended and I will obliterate it

Then in 23 turns, I will actually Attack the East Coast, because I told you I would attack you in the west coast and thus you expected me to attack the west coast
but that would be foolish of me, because I need to sneak attack you and annihilate you as quickly as possible

LONG LIVE THE COUNCIL OF ESSUS!

Are the Kuriotates really considered so strong that some people think they need to be limited in online games? I love playing as them, but I thought the majority of the "really good" online players thought they were weak due to production.

@ Veridian, it really depends on mapsize ... although I easily killed off a near Amurite/Luchuirp alliance as the Kuriotates, and even Bill Bisco kills me every time he plays as the Kuriotates. :p

I dunno exactly. I love them, and love people playing as them. In recent games they just seem to have this aura of ownage around them.

They seem like they'd fit the format very well. They'd love having advance warning when they're going to be attacked, wouldn't be hurt that badly by having to give warnings because sprinting centaurs are hard to defend against, and their cap on real cities doesn't hurt as much because holding territory is so damn hard in MP anyway, so players raze captured cities almost all the time, meaning everyone has a cap in practice.

What traits do you kurio players adapt into?

almost always adapt into financial ... although this is on quick mind you so you almost always get that first great sage for an academy (or two) before the switch

Would it be too much to disallow CoE and Empyrean? It's obvious they're not nearly as well developed as the other religions, and well... Chalid and Gibbon can both be used as nigh-invincible conquest tools in MP games. Well, Chalid at least. Gibbon mostly pisses people off.

It wouldn't be any different on normal, unless adaptive's triggers don't scale to game speed or something (please tell me this isn't the case)

Chalid isn't as good in MP I've found because simturns means stacks are constantly moving around, splitting up and reforming, meaning you can hit only half a stack if your luck's kinda bad and end up pillaring a single unit as the megastack moves out of range a split second earlier if your luck's really bad.

The problem is that FFH has so many unbalanced elements to it. Firebows, Vampires, and Fireball golems are all unbalanced. Ice Mana can be very unbalanced. The White Hand ritual can be very unbalanced. If a Civ hasn't researched Archers, they're probably dead.

Chalid is till good in MP, you just have to be more careful in simul turns. Gibbon is a free Archmage, and is good but not as good as Chalid.

I was talking about Gibbon's 'Impersonate Leader' ability, actually.

As far as Chalid goes, he becomes much more powerful when you're aiming to take a city, and/or have some high-mobility units backing him up. Splitting up means your stacks will be ripped to shreds by horsemen/archers(who can promptly rejoin the stack, sometimes on the same turn). Sticking together means Pillar gets you...

Wasn't this a joke thread anyway?

This is a serious thread with some jokes in it. The reference to Sidar in #5 is the fact that Neomega likes to play Sidar, and often gets soundly defeated by Tas.

I've been meaning to get back into playing. Hopefully tomorrow you guys will save me a spot.

I would say Calabim > Kuriotates.

...#1. Thou shalt not use Synergy, unless it either fulfills every dimension of your civ's flavor, or buys you time to invest in a frivolous and arbitrary pursuit...

Why else would you use synergy? Frivolous, arbitrary pursuits are the best kind! Ah, I remember that stink bomb fondly...

from the other thread, since you felt the need to start a new one to slam me:

I linked to the first thread when the whole "lets RP play" concept was launched*. That is what I think RP means, and really, it was not that difficult to figure out when we played. We didn't have a bunch of lawyers hashing out exactly what was RP. It was just known. It was really quite simple. I leave for 6 months, come back, all the old players are gone, and in their place are a handful of players playing standard Free-for-all but talking in old English in chat, and calling it "RP". Sometimes there was a semblance of staying in character, but most of the time it was just massive meta-meta-meta. I even remember my first game back, it was open leader, and someone chose Perpentach to lead the Sidar. Yeah, the dude tried to explain why that was RP, but the RP was an afterthought. The real idea was to get a charismatic leader for double XP for faster shades.

RP, fun, character, and storyline should come first. Meta combos, if any, should stay RP, and winning should come last.

Not, Meta, go for win, stack of doom first: then explain why it was RP after. It's dumb, it's no fun, and it's just the better players playing FFA.

I am just saying what a lot of people who don't play or quit playing would say if they cared to stick around and have a fun game or two. Of course many of them came in expecting RP, and got FFA. For the newbs, that really sucks. One of the points of RP was to let people of all skill levels play together. It really sucks to have to "define" RP. In fact, I also remember in the early games, we had people asking these questions, and our answer was, if you have to ask.... it's not RP!! It takes the fun out of RP to make a big list of what is, and what is not RP. I also remember some insta-bans of people who did non-RP things... and nobody shed a tear for people getting kicked who simply did not get it. As someone playing in a community whose goal it is to have fun, it should not have to be explained. Just play in character, and don't be a douche, and stop trying to prove your uber-FFH skills. Nobody cares how awesome you are at FFH, what we care about is how fun can you make the experience for all of us.... friend or enemy.

And as I alluded too in the other Thread Neomega, if you want an RP game with those extra guidelines, then make another RP thread with those extra guidelines. I do get the feeling though that nothing I say is going to get through to you, that no matter what anyone says you're just gonna whine and complain and take your marbles back home (if you haven't already).

Glad I never bother to go MP anymore. That game was brutal Tas :D

Well, I kind of snowballed into ruthlessness cause players like FFG and Kragroth wanted the challenge ... although I can concede to a lot of points, and try to create a different atmosphere for these RP games.

I personally don't mind winning as long as its okay not to win, and we aren't all just looking for a rough and tumble competition. Its purely a matter of pride from my perception.

I honestly don't mind more flavor/builder/challenge if that would be more conducive to more people playing MP. I don't know, maybe its just cause im in a good mood right now xD. Regardless, if me slaughtering people leads to good players like Fireblaze leaving the MP arena, then I don't have to play to my abilities every game.

(im wondering though ... which game was that?)

Judging from the comments, I would definately agree with Neomega. If you want to play RP, RP should come before everything else. If you want to play FFA, call it FFA.

That said, I don't think I'll play alot of MP in the near future, my school's really started to drain my time, as have politics.

Neomega's just sore cause he's been defeated so many times. If something was wrong he should have said so earlier rather than just fuming and leaving. Me and Tas just had an RP game yesterday, dear lord the power of slavery.
