Release dates breakdown?

I'll take the dll release over an expansion pack any day. All the good stuff in BtS was mods anyway.

I would probably buy an expansion pack though, if it was good.

I suppose an expansion is technically possible, but since it's never been announced at any point in time, and Civ5 is approaching 18 months since release.... it seems pretty unlikely.

I would expect an expansion after XCOM is released, but that would be well beyond the timeline of previous Civilization expansion packs (at least, for the past two games in the series) It certainly looks like the game has been essentially abandoned, no doubt a product of the fact the game designer bailed right after the game was done. I'm disappointed by the lack of commitment to improve the game: the patches have been good, but not as substantial as they needed to be to fix deep issues with game mechanics. The game was designed poorly and it's never recovered from that.

Well, it does seem like they would have announced an Expansion pack by now, if they were going to do one.

But it doesn't make sense to me why they wouldn't release an expansion. Do they not want our money? I mean, really...

and yes Mods, yes i should be allowed to point it out. tehy were allowed to slam Civ5 about an expansion and how the game was effectively dead in the water. i should be allowed to point out just how wrong they were and how little their word is worth.


X-com, remember that? tahts the game firaxis has moved onto now (i know sooo much insider information cause im an internet hardman) well, like, firaxs are working all out on x-com, they have forsaken Civ5....

the game was released so much incomplete with multi the biggest joke ever

not even now multi is good, its just similar to what civ 4 multi was (but with the crap of steam in between)

and also they stated clearly multi was gonna be competitive and very well taken care of

for single player i dont know, when i used to play it AI was really bad, i suppose its improved but i dont really care that much now

i also believed and there would be an Xpac, but am not the kind of person that would go "NahNah told u so, i am right and you are wrong"

i think everyone is happy and even the grizzled vets that predicted the end of the series are happy they are wrong ... now lets just hope they are making a BTS rather than a warlords quality Xpac
