Religion Appreciation

I'm glad it makes people happy!

I'm glad it inspires people to make awesome stuff!

We can appreciate some inspirations of religion (while condemn others) but what was inspired by religion many years ago is not necessarily relevant to how should Religion be appreciated today.

Sigh~~ people are quick to shoot off with regard to topics like these.

No, I do not believe in God.

I do not believe in creation.

I think Bible is just a collection of myths which got popular and many subscribe to it. I think Islam is a set of laws and rules lay out in order for people living in the harsh environment in Arabia at that time to survive as a community.

But I just want to show appreciation that despite misguided thinking, these groups of believers actually did quite a lot of good to their respective society.

That is difficult huh..

Of course. You wouldn't get this in a "Science appreciation thread", though, despite science having also produced unpleasant stuff like nukes and VX gas.

I have to say that I have no appreciation toward Religion in general. It is may be the case that they provide me many reasons and materials to be fixated upon how irrational that Religious beliefs provides; and how it continues to breed more individuals into believing them.

So I will continue to wallow in contempt towards them so I can find myself convinced that maybe that someday there will be no need of them when all of men and women find themselves enlighten to think for themselves instead of already unchanging dogmas that is force-fed to them.

I think Christians are very nice people quite a lot of the time. So are Sikhs. Don't really know any Jews or Hindus though, and Islam is my own religion anyway so of course I'd say good things about that, but those are the two other groups that most stand out to me.

To think that not all religious people are friendly is ok, as long as they keep their mouth shut. However, when you place a gun to their head and tell them to please be rational, they will surely tell you to shoot their brains out.

All the Muslims I have ever met personally are very friendly, reasonable people. I am of course aware that not all Muslims are like that, but I see no reason to think the majority aren't.
All the Mormons I know are reasonable people too. Well, I only know one Mormon and that's you, so its not exactly much of a judgement, but...

You are right!

"Demand" doesnt fit good here.It is more threat than demand.It is clearly stated;

"If you dont worship me,I'll burn you in hell like an american flag in Palestine"

He is not demanding,just threatining...

Bad analogy. Its more like he draws a line and asks you which side of it you are on. Your choice decides your fate in the afterlife.

I think religion is useful as a guideline for how to live a morally good life. As in don't steal, murder etc. However common sense has to be used too... Its really organised religion that I have a problem with.

Yes, the rational one is the one pointing the gun at the other.
