I feel like this reformation is broken. It cost 1350 faith to purchase a rifle after the modern era. :crazyeye:

Compared to Holy Warriors, it is certainly lacklustre and a waste of faith that could otherwise be used for G.E.s or G. W/A/M's (which I find a little amusing - since you're literally "praying" people into existence )

It's sort of like the draft option that you could take from civ 4 where all your citizens become unhappy and only one citizen becomes happy. If you make that much faith then purchasing a rifle at the last minute wouldn't hurt.

It is poorly balanced considering great people can be purchased for 1000 faith (+500 faith for the next one of the same type (first engineer 1000, second 1500, third 2000,ect.)

True but then the later great people that you buy get more and more expensive and eventually end up being way more expensive than a rifleman purchase.

^ I'm guessing upwards of 3000.

generally for great people you won't end up buying more than 3 of a type

I concur it is generally useless, but there is a rare play where you can annex a city with the religion and faith purchase something. I did it once, when I didn't have Glory of God and my GP were already run up in price. Having the unit where I needed it when I needed it was worth it (in this case, I think I bought a Berber cav and I had a nearby city knocked down to black but no melee units to take it).
